What will the time after this be like for us? I can see many people permanently working from home, as companies realise that they may not need to hire or buy massive office blocks, and will save lots of money on that alone, employees will save on commute both money and time, people who are working from home may move away from urban areas and play their part in revitalising rural communities. This I think will be the biggest change in life after Corona.
I’ve been thinking this will happen a while now and recent events have just accelerated the process. No need for central office space for a lot of people. Much could be used as affordable housing instead if enough people got their acts together. I don’t have the cash but if I was thinking of buying a place, looking for a decent return, it would definitely be rural. Can see property prices in the countyside accelerating faster than in towns and cities.

Pretty sure now that me and my wife have both got the Shanghai Shivers. Been ill for a week now. Thought it was just a nasty flu but temperature went a couple of days ago and have just been left with a nasty cough and fatigue like I've never known in my life. Every single movement feels like a great effort and is accompanied by nausea. It's horrible. Just glad my kids haven't shown any symptoms yet.
Stay strong.

I have two younger brothers that have zero medical training. Today, they have been screaming at me to buy a CPAP Machine for my vulnerable sister, as they are convinced that it could help her in the event that she started struggling with the virus. They cost £350. If I thought for a minute that they would help then I would of course get one. I have done some research and only found this:

"Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), auto-CPAP, and bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP or BPAP) machines typically used for treatment of sleep apnea (either in the home or facility setting) may be used to support patients with respiratory insufficiency provided appropriate monitoring (as available) and patient condition".

I don't know what to do. My brothers are gobshites tbf, and have previously tried to guilt trip me into buying a diabetic pump for my sister, as if you can just buy them from Argos (you can't).

I don't know. But is there anyone on here with medical knowledge that can advise on the efficacy of a CPAP for someone with Coronavirus?

Thank god for that...about time they turned the buildings in Canary Wharf into sheltered housing....

But seriously, this will prove that we don’t all have to live in London, that there is more to life than the rat race, we only get one life so might as well enjoy it...before the next flu from China finishes the whole planet......

That data's out of date now.
If you go to

and look at the data for "Yesterday", you'll see our cities were dropping to levels similar to Italy a couple of weeks ago. Give it a couple of days and I'd expect us to be in single digits.

Unreal.

Is there anyone who actually doesn't now think this lot need replacing ASAP?

Dyson!

Just so happens Tory donor Brexit supporting Dyson is at hand, who would have thought Tory cronyism.

There will be many. That's probably why they did it that way. Anyone one say's they earned more, the response will be 'that's not what you told the tax man'
Note in the statement today I got the idea the new guy was hinting the self employed will be paying more NI in the future ......as the disparity he found in the PAYE employee .........
A can of worms has been opened here for the future of self employed top end earners maybe........

I really hope so pal - my thoughts too.

I don't have medical knowledge at all, but this sounds absolute BS. If she has pre-existing vulnerabilities and is diagnosed with this then she will probably be put on a in a hospital on proper respirator anyway.
