t said that 90,000 had been tested for Covid-19 in London so far with 9,000 testing positive, that was on Sky News less than an hour ago.

Found this report on ITV...

In the UK, not London. Less than 1% of the population. Is that right? Still good news though more testing the better.

Andrew Bolton on Sky News said in London, but if it's 90k already tested in the UK, I'd want people over 60 to be at the top of the list, they are the group dying.

I have no problem with Charles being one of the 90k, his age determines he's eligible and it's warranted if he's showing symptoms, which he was.

For all those too happy to put the boot into our government, consider that the number of total cases and deaths in this country is likely to be only a small fraction of virtually every other major economy in Europe - France, Spain, Germany, and Italy of course. Both in total and per captia we are likely to come out the other side far less impacted than these countries, and if you don't think our government deserves at least some credit in that regard then I don't really know what to say except that you have hopelessly allowed your idological hatred to cloud objective outcomes.
I hope you are right, but why do you think we will end up with a small fraction of the total fatalities in comparison to others in europe, including Germany?

As long as you don't live in Italy, France or Spain allegedly. Since they've been turning off the ventilators for anyone over 60.
When this is all over we can have a look at all the players and see who did the right things at the right time, I'll bet you now we fair better than them 3 and Germany.

Exactly.

Last night on Newsnight finally a journalist, Emily Maitlis, did the job of holding the government to account. Nadhim Zahawi couldn't say when there will be 25 000 tests a day as proclaimed by Johnson 10 days ago. He claimed it's gone up from 5 000 10 days ago to 6 000 now 10 days = 1000 more a day. That will mean that it'll take 200 days for there to be 25 000 a day. Zahawi resorted to claiming Maitlis was 'sniping'. I bet she'll be reprimanded for giving a Tory minister a hard time on the Tory controlled BBC. How dare she, hold the government to account!!

It's been the same with ventilators. Hancock keeps claiming that the NHS has 12 000 when it has 8 000. Just because they may have ordered them doesn't mean they have them. It was claimed by Zahawi that they'd be in the NHS hands 'soon' but when pressed by Maitlis again he tried to deflect but couldn't confirm that 12 000 will be in use by the NHS next week, which is Hancock's claim.

We're now entering war time censorship and big Goebbels lies. As seen from not announcing how many people died from coronavirus yesterday from the normal slot of 1 pm. but not until 10pm. On Newsnight the political editor Nick Watt, 'deaths down, is of interest, but need to be careful not to read too much into it, because the department of health, as we speak, is changing the way it is releasing and compiling these figures, normally these figures would come out in the early afternoon, when I lasted looked they'd still not come out. And the reason for that is that it turns out that these figures may not actually be the deaths that have taken place over the last 24 hours, because the department of health, the NHS, needs to have the consent of the families of people who've died to release their figures. So the deaths may have taken place a few days ago. So it's not exactly a like for like figure every day'. What consent?

They've never asked for consent of those that have died from say a road accident or cancer so as to release figures. Not releasing figures and distorting them is part of the government's strategy of underplaying what is happening through deceit. Now that they've got parliament out of the way the government have a free reign to lie to their back teeth as they've done over tests, PPE and ventilators. And no doubt the MSM, and in particular the Tory controlled BBC - with last nights odd except and Piers Morgan odd exception, will all duly stand in line and march as one in protecting the government from too much flak.
Classic Dom.

Utter nonsense.

Actually a disgrace to even compare these two issues.

Well, the use of the name Goebbels is obviously over the top, but I don't think it's an exaggeration to expect a variation on war time censorship and outright lies on this.

You have to remember that politically the Tories stand to lose an awful lot over this, especially with their actions early on in this crisis.

Indeed, if they were smart they'd be bringing in Labour in a national "wartime government" to share the political heat for this. Probably too late now.

All I can say for sure is this government has been caught in lie after lie, so people saying it's outrageous to suggest they'd massage some figures for political gain is bizarre quite frankly.

There's a chance yesterday was a statistical anomaly in terms of the death rate and it'll be massive today, or that we really have miraculously flattened that curve to that degree. There's also a chance that figure was a blatant lie. All of those things are valid possibilities.
