History will judge these policy decisions. At the moment it appears catastrophic mistakes were made. It's been a perfect storm of incompetent leaders faced with a dire threat who then failed the people they were sworn to protect.

It's to early to make that call but the signs don't look good.

The biggest question that need to be answered is by those in charge of our borders:

Why weren't flights originating from China stopped in early January.

Why weren't flights originating from the ROW stopped last month.

Why did our Border Agency fail us so badly? Why didn't they adopt the same policy as Taiwan for example, which states that those coming from at-risk areas must give their mobile phone number, we could have expanded on that to make it mandatory for a persons home address to be given and confirmed on entry, whereby they would stay isolated for 14 days.

I agree with him tbh. Definitely expect us in the UK to be back in the office by mid-April

"Back in the office" in a literal sense might be hopelessly optimistic, but I would pray that the rate of change in the number of new cases would be negative by then (think if I remember back to my high school calculus this would be the 2nd derivative, [d2y/dx2] or something)

The model doesn't account for any 2nd wave, which is a real-life problem, so that will definitely be a factor in how quickly the restrictions are lifed.

I post links that I believe maybe be relevant. At the most 3-4 times in 24 hrs. I don't consider that endless or confusing. You're more than welcome to question the sources and come back to me with your findings. I'd sincerely read that.
It's not so much me as I personally wouldn't go looking for hard news on a football fans forum but some people probably are influenced by what they read here, particularly by striking headlines using or manipulating figures.

There's nothing in this post I disagree with.

Unlike a lot of people on here I am not one to have a go at you incessantly. However, it is disappointing that you think that it's OK for people to be so concerned about this that they are allowed to pay a large price to get checked because they have a lot of money but are not allowed to worry about feeding their families.

I don’t believe that anyone should be able to pay to get checked. At a time like this everyone should be treated equally. However I’m not even sure that Prince Charles, which is where all this started from, actually paid for anything. As an aside, I have private medical insurance, yet at the moment and quite rightly all private hospitals and staff have been given over to the NHS and this disease. You will have heard no moaning or whinging from the people like myself who are actually paying for something but to which they have no longer have access. It’s a national emergency. But when some rabid left winger starts moaning because our over 70 future King displays symptoms and then gets checked out for it, I get a bit miffed, hence my original comments....

I'm just sharing links. Have I checked to see if they are right or left wing conspiracy theorists. Nope. I'll leave that up to you. I have that trust in people to decide. Incidentally I link from both left leaning and right leaning sources.

If it doesn't resonate with you, don't click the link. I don't have an agenda, we're on an outlier from the main football forum. Which unfortunately might be closed imminently, so myself included, if we want to keep this discussion going, I urge you to dig into your pockets.

The thread is about Coronavirus.

they didn’t, the government did. The ministers need to make the decision.

like you said before, as soon as there’s a reportable incident of a possible pandemic my first process would to be close the borders, or at least of very stringent quarantine plans in place

But in the UK and US at least. They didn't do that. We know immigration, border control can't make that decision independently. So the questions becomes why did our governments allow individuals in, originating from countries with a known pandemic?

For all those too happy to put the boot into our government, consider that the number of total cases and deaths in this country is likely to be only a small fraction of virtually every other major economy in Europe - France, Spain, Germany, and Italy of course. Both in total and per captia we are likely to come out the other side far less impacted than these countries, and if you don't think our government deserves at least some credit in that regard then I don't really know what to say except that you have hopelessly allowed your idological hatred to cloud objective outcomes.

When the person in charge is inept, decisions are not made

The priority was the economy, not public health

"The Mayor has two daughters studying in England. When he saw that the British authorities were happy to have England play Wales in front of 80,000, or 250,000 at Cheltenham - he called them and said 'come home - you will be safer here."

Why are we only reporting the coronavirus deaths that have consent from family?

Thry dont have to be named but for safety and transparency, they have to be included.

Trying to distort the figures?
