Is that the 2018 vintage? I can't tell you how mad I'd be if I got that home and it was a 2019 one.

Mine had this label on it

Which part of what I wrote strikes you as paranoid?
But I think its already too late now, it will probably soon blow up. Like you say its probably something the world is just going to have to get used to.

But a lot of peoples loved ones are going to die for the sake of a short term economic stability
It's certainly not too late and I'm extremely confident it's not going to 'blow up' in the UK. Some very unfortunate people may die in the UK but not many, not enough to cause the amount of hysteria that's going around.

Doesn't help that the government says despite just 50 odd cases now, it'll probably affect six million of us for sure.

Utter drivel.

I can sell you some hand-wash if you want? As a mate, it's yours for just £537.99

I get where you are coming from, but I have to travel to Vegas for a conference, then a week later be with my 95 year old grandma who lives in a nursing facility and has only just gotten over bacterial pneumonia.

I will be bathing in hand sanitizer hourly for the next 2 weeks.

Crazy.

Good thread. There's no outbreak if you don't test for it.

They didn't want to find it until now. I don't know how they think they can spin it as "the Democrats are responsible", but I can't come up with any other rational explanation for a democratic government behaving in this way. They have to believe that, somehow, they can be in power during a widespread epidemic and still successfully blame the other side.

Tongue up Trump's arse and desperate for a job.

I do believe that Jim Cramer said something to the effect that it's not going to matter unless the Fed can treat the disease or vaccinate against it.

I still don't buy the high death rate. I think there is way more mild illness that is unidentified. Finally verdict will be closer to flu fatality rate - my somewhat educated (and hopeful) guess.

The South Korean numbers are the only ones consistent with that hypothesis so far, with the Diamond Princess numbers within margin of error. It could be that they're doing a far superior job of getting everyone tested in South Korea (seems very likely from reports), it could be that they drew a milder strain than most, or it could be both.

The U.S. numbers look like the Iran numbers did last week, which is not good.

I would guess that reality is going to be 1-2% overall. If you throw it at a really good health system and that system doesn't get overwhelmed, you should get better outcomes. Hubei province is driving the current result, but either the Italians are struggling just as hard or they have a lot of cases they haven't found.

Suffice to say, I sincerely hope that you and your grandma aren't affected by this.
