Given the rapid rate they broke down the genome of the initial virus that allowed other to produce vaccines, it seems odd they seemingly haven't been able to adjust their vaccineswith the evolution of the virus as other nations have. Seems to be the case though.

They refused the West vaccines by all account. Despite, like you say, rogue scientists letting us know the stuff we needed to know to make them. I guess, as a lay person, if you keep folk locked up as they have, the natural human immune system will be utterly spooked by variants we, the west, combated reasonably well.

There was a bit more to that refusal - they didn't authorise it, but there was (IIRC) no suggestion that any of the technology behind it would ever have been shared so they'd have had to buy it the same as the rest but in huge volumes.

I'm not the sequence evaluators (is that a thing?) were even rogue were they? Regardless, them seem to have the institutions in place. Maybe it is a power front and its the chinese vaccine or no vaccine. Quite a few examples despite the incredible achievements of the vaccines of a lack of global co=operation were it should have just been assummed. Cuban virologists unable to get hold of the resources to continue testing because of trade embargos springs to mind. As usual its the common folf that suffer most and the chinese populace have my absolute sympathy.

The missed opportunity for genuine collaboration over this in 2020/21 was obvious at the time, but now that the world has taken a turn towards insanity it is even more glaring.

For a fraction of the foreign aid budgets of the West, we could have done more good diplomatically than anything that has been seen since the landings on the Moon. Instead it was more important that biotech firms raked it in.

Tomatos Tomatos isnt it really? Covid in the West is largely now part of life, as we were told it would be. It certainly isnt overwhelming health services, afaik. It seems the CCP tried sommet different, and its not going great, by all accounts.

And official death toll in December is only in single figures - you can understand why people might not believe what the government says. Even if you do believe them it indicates no need for another booster. Crazy.
