That said, I do think fields like Economics and Political Science are more politicized than others--remember the repeated attempts by house Republicans to kill National Science Foundation funding for PoliSci and other social sciences?...that's about as political as it gets! I don't think, though, that COVID funding is highly political--a good proposal is likely to get funded, a quackery proposal is not.

Speaking personally, so an n = 1, I can say that in my field what drives funding is good proposals and good science, not the researcher's political views nor the topic that they propose to study. And I can say this confidently based on numerous experiences serving as Associate Editor for journals and serving on tons of NSF review panels. But again, just my personal experience.

I would refer you to the comments of President Macron regarding the Astra Zeneca jab during Covid. The most politicised and disgraceful comments uttered during that period. God only knows how many people died across Europe as a result….

"I'd rather see the bodies pile high than have a third lockdown" and "let's take it on the chin" are marks of outstanding leadership though, correct?

Soon dropped by the UK as well... Lot more brewing in the legal background on this. Can see the logic in rolling it out at the time. However, did not say at the time but this particular vaccine could have killed my daughter which she took because of her job (no requirement in Wales unlike Nanny state England) which did kill other people with the same heart condition. I think you will find it was your prick (Johnson) who began politicization of vaccines.
