How can numbers still be so high when tests aren't even available any more? Maybe people stocked up prior to the scheme finishing?

there was a "day of chaos" yesterday at Heathrow, but it sounds like it was the fault of Easyjet again https://www.standard.co.uk/news/lon...ovid-shortage-manchester-airport-b992165.htmlIt must be a localised issue at Manchester I reckon. Unless I have missed sommet. (Quite likely). Airlines are cancelling flights due to covid absences, but I keep hearing its mainly the budget ones, who have for ever been staffed at the bare minimum.
Must be - mix of that and those still eligible for PCR. I viewed a house the other week and the guy who lived there had a stack of them big enough for at least a few months even if he was doing them dailyHow can numbers still be so high when tests aren't even available any more? Staff at the free test centers were giving boxes away to try and get them to the public while they still could. Not sure whether people actually register the qr codes thoughHow can numbers still be so high when tests aren't even available any more? Maybe people stocked up prior to the scheme finishing?
Everyone is sharing what’s left of the free tests in my (still positive) experience. How can numbers still be so high when tests aren't even available any more? Maybe people stocked up prior to the scheme finishing?

Best wishes to her. Mine is out the other side DGMy daughter has tested positive today
Fed up with people not wearing masks in supermarkets and not distancing at checkout. I have not said anything to someone yet but my patience is wearing. But but....people keep telling me it's all finished we're back to normal.
Another milestone for this government.
Same here mateFed up with people not wearing masks in supermarkets and not distancing at checkout. I have not said anything to someone yet but my patience is wearing.
When three of my family have tested positive despite vaccinations it really annoys me how so many think it's all gone away. I have no intention of flying for the foreseeable future although I love travel.Same here mate
Looking at the chaos at Manchester airport hardly a mask to be seen.
Its the same everywhere .
Not said anything bar one time a little scrote pushed in front of me in a pharmacy , then called me weird for wearing a mask. First time in years ive felt like belting someone.
What a great place for the next variant to spring up.

Its not next winter that needs sorting , its now. Over 2 & half years and these are the worst set of stats since it started. Daily deaths are horrific.Your seeing the effect in those stats, 80k cases last week, 50k this week. Deaths are higher. It indicates the lack of free testing is just reducing the actual case numbers because people aren’t either testing or reporting - yet likely cases are higher given the deaths have increased.
Really there in no way of knowing what’s going on in the U.K. from a disease profile point of view.
Bit mad really, Omicron and BA2 are manageable, but the next variant may not be, I wouldn’t be pulling down my infrastructure, just yet, or at least I’d be looking at a plan for next Winter.

Message is firmly ....Get on with it and manage it yourselves , we've got bigger fish to fry.
