How can numbers still be so high when tests aren't even available any more? Maybe people stocked up prior to the scheme finishing?
Must be - mix of that and those still eligible for PCR. I viewed a house the other week and the guy who lived there had a stack of them big enough for at least a few months even if he was doing them daily

It does seem a bit mad to stop free tests when they announce 9 new symptoms, including pretty much every thing, plus a new variant.

There is "living with it", (agree), and being gung ho about it. Its here, it aint leaving, so "living with it" means to my untutored eye, that free testing must be an a open ended commitment.

Fed up with people not wearing masks in supermarkets and not distancing at checkout. I have not said anything to someone yet but my patience is wearing.
Same here mate
Looking at the chaos at Manchester airport hardly a mask to be seen.
Its the same everywhere .
Not said anything bar one time a little scrote pushed in front of me in a pharmacy , then called me weird for wearing a mask. First time in years ive felt like belting someone.

What a great place for the next variant to spring up.

When three of my family have tested positive despite vaccinations it really annoys me how so many think it's all gone away. I have no intention of flying for the foreseeable future although I love travel.

Mrs BR still negative although she went to Spain a couple of weeks ago.

Your seeing the effect in those stats, 80k cases last week, 50k this week. Deaths are higher. It indicates the lack of free testing is just reducing the actual case numbers because people aren’t either testing or reporting - yet likely cases are higher given the deaths have increased.

Really there in no way of knowing what’s going on in the U.K. from a disease profile point of view.

Bit mad really, Omicron and BA2 are manageable, but the next variant may not be, I wouldn’t be pulling down my infrastructure, just yet, or at least I’d be looking at a plan for next Winter.

Its not next winter that needs sorting , its now. Over 2 & half years and these are the worst set of stats since it started. Daily deaths are horrific.

Message is firmly ....Get on with it and manage it yourselves , we've got bigger fish to fry.

Most countries are the same as the U.K. now restriction wise mate. I think the U.K. though like to be contrary about everything these days with Brexit- getting rid of the isolation period is just pure irresponsible in terms of public health, I don’t think it’s even stupid as I think they know what they are doing, it’s just cruel making people decide between paying their mortgage, heating and food or go to work with with an infectious disease that could kill someone along the chain and infect all their customers, patients, colleagues. - I think your right I don’t the U.K. Goverment care. It’s not rocket science to work out why the stats are so bad.

If I’m being very honest, I think most governments want this to spread now and are looking at building an exposed herd immunity base, Omicrin and BA2 aren’t as problematic as say Alpha & Delta - they won’t admit and Will talk about learning to live with it - but really that’s what they are all doing.

The isolation/work thing in the U.K. is cruel and callous and massively irresponsible.
