Advice
JCVI advises a
non-urgent offer of two 10 mcg doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine (Comirnaty®) to children aged 5 to 11 years of age who are not in a clinical risk group. The 2 doses should be offered with an interval of at least 12 weeks between doses.
The intention of this offer is to increase the immunity of vaccinated individuals against severe COVID-19
in advance of a potential future wave of COVID-19".
The advice seems to be, that they want 5-11 year olds vaccinated to protect them against a future wave of the virus. So it's to be given now but for the future wave of the virus. But if kids have it now, and it's said the vaccine wanes, then by the time a future wave comes then they wont be protected, so will need vaccinating again. This doesn't make sense unless they are claiming that vaccine induced immunity lasts a very long time in which case what was the point of the 2nd jab and/or the booster?
