Madness - the spread will kick off again without doubt. I can't believe he is following the science and medical advice here?

If it was so scary and life threatening how can this be a plan to live with the virus? Surely we should still self isolate if testing positive?

They seem to be completely shatting on the vulnerable and those who have previously shielded - completely no protection for them?

That's why it all feels like a complete sham to me, it's massively political and had been from day 1 in my opinion.

TBF I think this is a case of it started with science and ended up with politics; certainly given the 300+ deaths yesterday it seems very questionable to say things have massively improved.

No legal requirement to isolate when you have COVID is truly demented. People will be under even more pressure to attend work when ill than they are now.
You'd hope employers would be responsible enough to show compassion to those with COVID who aren't well enough to work.

Nevertheless, I suspect many will say something along the lines of 'it's just a cold' or that jazz and expect staff in and ignore that for many it's still not nice.

Another thing, I had COVID for the second time and the symptoms were at worst very mild. I was more than fit enough to work, which sounds great.

However, I work with someone who is clinically vulnerable. On a moral basis, it would have been a bit crap of me to continue to sit next to them with it.

So do they not come in or do they grin and bear it? But hey, I suspect the line will be to not test at all, so they'll have never known it was me putting them at risk.

I truly appreciate that we need to get on with life now as best as we can, but morally I still feel there's a lot of questions unanswered.

Covid doesn't go away though. It has become a mild illness with the vaccine and we are over 90% vaccinated.

The government are right in what they are doing, the time scale however certainly up for debate.

Eventually you have to live with it. When the spread of covid is not affected by the vaccine in any way shape or form then transmission is no longer preventable. However if the vaccine works and deaths directly due to covid reduce then it isn't any different to any other virus. As much as it may be political, the government will have science there to back up the decision somewhat, science we don't get to see.

If covid now replicates the flu in a society with the same risks , with the same small pool of vunerable people , same milder illness etc. At what point do you (plural) accept that? I've had covid , in fact my sister had it and mine was nothing , hers was worse because she only had one jab. Generally speaking the country has been flooded with so many antibodies naturally these past 2 months that we could be , according to some scientists, super immune.

All I'm saying is covid today is nothing like covid 2 years ago. The presence of vaccines in almost the entire population , antibodies through spread , milder illness. This has to factor in. We don't live in fear of the flu for the same reasons we don't live in fear of covid anymore. Both had pretty serious pandemics as well.

Not arguing with any of that on the virus mate, even without the vaccines viruses mutate and normally become less pathogenic so as not to kill their hosts, but I'm not certain it was ever as bad as we have been led to believe.

You're right, the timing of his grand release absolutley stinks to me, and I can't believe a word our of that lying toerag Johnson's trap, hence my reticence to fully get behind what they are proposing as good for us all, especially those who are immuno suppressed.

Would you have supported these laws being renewed in March? Is it still an emergency enough for that?

No mate, that's not my point. I'm not even sure we should ever have had the laws and restrictions tbh. Was it ever as bad as has been made out?

If I had access to all the data and information, would I have chosen to meet up with friends and get bevvied or visit my loved ones or go on days out to test my eyesight, as members of the government did, or should I have been so scared that I did none of those things? Seems I should have been able to in hindsight.

Also, how can it be all cupcakes and rainbows now, and we can all roam freely and share the virus amongst ourselves, even if we're vulnerable, vaccinated, unvaccinated or whatever - my point is the entire farce stinks and I feel like we've been had off for 2 years if I'm honest.

I've said it before , what value have the rules had if the people making them don't follow them themselves. Hell it took a matter of a few weeks for the cheif science officer to break them back in 2020.

That is the lasting legacy of the pandemic , when it really shouldn't be. We should remember a time when we all had to protect each other and isolate from friends and family. Instead the ones in charge disregarded the rules every single time they made them. Every time they announced a lockdown , parties behind the scenes. Cancel Christmas for everyone except them.

So you are right to feel like that, because we have been had off. As much as keeping distance and the rest may have been the right thing to do , it doesn't appear that way based on our entire government.

Has his Brexit wing of his party in sole charge of his destiny now, so will dance to their whims.
The right wing of the party, those followers of trumpian ideology, have always been against the restrictions.
They are the same lot who are against the anti carbon, save the planet agreements on climate. A bunch of anti-vaxxers and climate deniers, and paid lobbyists.
They are in a position to bring down the pm. And he knows it.
