S Korea looks like it will have a much smaller cost, both health wise and economy, than those countries that failed to ramp up/take it seriously did. Their testing program will not have been cheap and as you say thereare some privacy issues but ”shelter at home” is a much more severe loss of civil liberties.

Again though - people are comparing oranges and pears. We are massively different in our hygiene and living ways than SK.

The only land border is closed off.

The ports are almost entirely goods based. People clean their teeth at work at lunchtime. Most municipal buildings people remove their shoes etc. So as soon as people were told there "major virus, time to change behaviours" - bang, already got a population who understand what it takes.

I suspect the media are being told what they can and can't ask and report 'in the national interest' . People have been pretty irresponsible already and I do wonder if the threat of being accused of inciting public disorder and mass panic has been held against them.

I hope so, we should have locked down the media.....

Thing is, the police in the UK aren't feared, in the same way as they are in Spain or Italy. The police are seen as pussies so I wonder how they tackle all the rebels.

Because the instruction is to stay at home?

I'm under the impression that if you are out after night and aren't going to the supermarket then you shouldn't be there and therefore disobeying instructions.

My big question is how are they going to enforce it?

Are they expecting empty roads from now on? Especially of a night? Like if it was around 12 o clock will they just on the spot fine people for being out?

I'm sure there is measures in place police wise but curious how they will enforce it.

I'm in Spain, as of yesterday we have to fill in and carry a document saying where we live and the reason we're out the house, we can leave only to go to the supermarket or pharmacy which you can only one person per family, all the supermarkets require you to wear gloves and most hand gel as well now.

Cant the Government just do one thing and please tell the nation how these lockdowns help fight the virus and for how long? And if they dont then can they advise what realistically can be done outside of a miraculous vaccine as surely this cant be feasible for the next few months?

The whole situation is baffling - have China even let people back out yet? If not how the hell is Fellaini and new people still catching it everyday?
