Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Is anyone already sick of the tedious arguments about this thing?

Cant the Government just do one thing and please tell the nation how these lockdowns help fight the virus and for how long? And if they dont then can they advise what realistically can be done outside of a miraculous vaccine as surely this cant be feasible for the next few months?

The whole situation is baffling - have China even let people back out yet? If not how the hell is Fellaini and new people still catching it everyday?

The lockdowns help because if you see less people you are less likely of infecting anyone if you have it or getting infected.

This thing spreads quicker than other viruses (it's the only difference - viruses impacting old people and vulnerable people isn't new) so it's the only way they know how to slow down the spread.

On the point about when it all blows over - well, God knows. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 'miracle' vaccine come, in all honesty, at the time when the right amount of damage to the economy has been done.

But the thing is loads of people probably have this and don't know. This means two things.

1) So, you can now take these measures to reduce contact (which they have been doing but people are dead thick) as much as possible. That stops people spreading it as much.

2) Because a lot more probably have it, here's where the 'herd immunity' thing probably comes into play. I suppose their wagering on enough people getting this in the next few weeks/months (or even already having had it) that by the time we all come back out then most people have built up natural resistance or immunity. And the point is, they won't even know. Because for the vast majority of people this illness is very, very mild. It could be a bad cough which lasts a day or a fever which lasts a night. Aches which last hours. And that's it.

So it's not to take away from how serious this can be - whether you're an athlete who is 22 or a fat OAP on their last legs, it could be deadly - but for a lot of people it may not be anything worse than a bad 24-hour bug so they probably wouldn't even know. It's why the anti-bodies test could be so key.

All of the above are just my thoughts on it from what I've read/heard/watched over the last few days.

I'm meaning about going for a drive in the daytime - in my own private car to get a bit of a change of scenary from the mind numbing boredom of living at home on my own

What harm is that doing?
Think it's the needless risk of a possible crash and further strain on the health system. Unlikely but nobody plans a crash. . Well not very often unless your a car full off for compo.

Do you need petrol to run the car? What if the car breaks down? What if you crash it?

Just follow the rules.
