No it's not.

Pick up a history book and learn how even western societies have to turn towards centralisation and a plan...it's what saved us from nazism.

If this virus escalates we'll all be seeing a lot more large scale intervention in our lives.

Which is not necessarily a good thing. Done right, the US won WWII and put men on the moon. But this is the same government that permitted the trust era, engaged in forcible sterilization and gave us Jim Crow.

There are problems that only government can solve. Crisis intervention during an epidemic is on the list. However, I would prefer that the crisis response not become the leading edge of a long-term police state.

I'm going to have to fly back to the UK at some point this week, rather do it now than risk international travel being suspended which, whilst a very small chance of happening, is one I can see happening. It's ridiculous that countries have allowed the spread of the virus, they could have stopped it almost completely had they stopped all travel from China as they should have done two months ago.

I think shutting down workplaces such as water treatment, power plants and the food industry from factory to shop might have a more severe effect than the coronavirus itself.
No. They obviously have to work. He probably meant useless offices which don't contribute much to society but still exist for some reason.
