Thanks for the info, was that capability to help with fire control or other reasons?

Under another administration I’d assume that all this was being co-ordinated and was based on military/healthcare professions advice, sadly I don’t have that same faith in this one :(
Fire control, getting rid of smoke etc. Using doors and vents to get smoke outside of the ship in different ( and when bored) more elaborate ways.
Obviously you can create a situation where, when under chemical attack the chemicals can't get in due to the pressures created from inside the ship and the citadel is secure.
Sailors are dirty gets when on shore leave, and a dose of crabs off someone's towel that's next to your own clean one soon spreads.
A ship is the perfect breeding ground for disease..

Officials at the Department of Health and Human Services sent more than a dozen workers to receive the first Americans evacuated from Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, without proper training for infection control or appropriate protective gear, according to a whistleblower complaint. The workers did not show symptoms of infection and were not tested for the virus, according to lawyers for the whistleblower, who is a senior HHS official based in Washington who oversees workers at the Administration for Children and Families, a unit within HHS.

The whistleblower is seeking federal protection because she alleges she was unfairly and improperly reassigned after raising concerns about the safety of these workers to HHS officials, including those within the office of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar. She was told Feb. 19 that if she does not accept the new position in 15 days, which is March 5, she would be terminated
Who by; Villanelle, Arnie, the KGB/FSI?

You can always trust the Military and / or Politicians to over promise and under perform.
Then clear themselves in the subsequent Inquiry. Then ask for a much bigger budget, so they can fix the none existant problems that they were in no way responsible for.
Then, if there is a next time, 'k it up again.

They will also totally over react and, when its all over and it all came to nothing, claim it was minimised because of their over reaction...and can we have a bigger budget for next time.

I worked on Invincible, and we now have two bloody HUGE new carriers.
No way our government will want this virus on them.
I haven't looked where they are, but I'm sure Queen Elizabeth will be at sea sooner rather than later for a long time.

Thanks, that post was simultaneously reassuring from a military readiness point of view and a tad worrisome under current conditions!

How do you think the sailors are going to react to the news? I know how I would react to home leave being delayed but I’m too selfish to have got on in the first place - thanks for your service x

It's an odd one for the sailors.
Phoning your wife from a ship wearing a gas mask and chemical attack clothing is a very peculiar conversation. This isn't anything like that, so I'm sure it's sound for the family.

If they have been away for months doing some muggy stuff.. then that's tense for the married lids.
The single ones aren't usually arsed.

On the Royal Blue Mersey

“If sport is affected, that could pose problems for major events, such as the closing stages of the Premier League season”

:celebrate:

Could they finally get what they deserve? Every blue needs to find their nearest infected individual, lick them vigorously, then proceed to cough and sneeze in every crowded place they can get to.
One step ahead.Been doing this for years mate.

I'm sure they would still be awarded the title sadly

Just speaking a nurse in the UK and she doesn't seem to think there is any grand plan or major panic or any directives or info that isn't in the public sphere already. Not sure what to make of that
