TBF there is very little reason why the whole country doesn't have same-day PCR results. Parts of it do, but it should be universal.

Maybe its possible but that's much more difficult as you need huge lab capacity. Prioritising NHS tests seems a lot more straight forward to implement.

we are in the middle of a global pandemic - we need huge lab capacity

Nowhere on earth can process millions of PCR tests same day. Where would you even get the lab technicians to process the tests? It's not really the number 1 priority either is it? Some people can isolate for a day or two.

Where have you got "millions of PCR tests same day" from? Even with a healthy safety margin for a disease worse than Omicron we'd be talking about guaranteeing 250,000 - 350,000 tests could be done within 24 hours, which is not unrealistic a target.

As for number 1 priority - it is actually a big part of it; the country needs to start asking the question of whether this Government has learned and improved its response to this ongoing crisis. There is very little evidence to suggest that it has, and that really should concern far more people than it does. How many times do you want to go through this?

Tedious from you, same nonsense about test and trace all the time. The UK Testing capacity is better than almost all of the EU. The UK PCR max capacity is stated to be 900,000 and well over 500,000 per day are done regularly.

The simple fact is turning around PCR tests for the general public within 24 hours just isn't a huge priority? People are meant to isolate after taking a PCR test until they get their results anyway.

My suggestion was that they should prioritise NHS which is obviously an easy win that would help immediately.
