Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Just seen a tweet about a fan collapsing at the Spurs game yesterday. Comments full of tin hatters talking about how this never happened before the vaccine. Why are they so daft?
Tbf there's tons of incidents across Europe of a similar nature, both on and off the pitch.

It's a bit worrying isn't it. Now, the issue is, it's probably unrelated to covid or the vaccine. It's just strange how it's started becoming so much more prevalent.

Overall I wouldn't say it's particularly worrying.

Is it much more prevalent, though?

People in the crowd have been collapsing / dying at football games for as long as people have been going to football games - all that has changed now is that the game is stopped whilst a fan is treated so people notice it more.

How long does it take for you to catch it. My daughter tested positive on Wednesday locked in her bedroom since and the rest of the household is negative today. Just worried as my husband is very vulnerable. Would we be seeing positives by now. Booked for a pcr this morning.

between three and ten days, depending on the variant

Almost like heart disease is the leading cause of death in most populations…

Irrespective if there is more, why do people assume the vaccine is responsible and not the novel virus that’s killed thousands?

People are mental.
GOT TV will be doing an expose on it after the game to enlighten lesser thinkers to the plandemic, followed by a thrilling interview with claus thompson on knitting trends in scandanavia

I mean I've been covering footy and sport for the last 7 years mate and I can count on one hand the number of times there's been an incident at a ground across that. We had to cover it. I know there were incidents but they didn't seem to happen as much as they have done in recent months - on and off the pitch.

It could be for any reason, as I said in my post. It's just that given everything that's happened, coincidence can feed into conspiracy theories.

As for on the pitch, in Euro footy's big leagues there's already been Aguero, Traore (Sheriff, in the CL), Lindelof, Zielinski, the lad at Wigan (Wyke, I think), albeit in training, Fleck at Sheff Utd and then I remember covering a line about a lad in Norway's league (may have been second tier) who died for a few minutes on the pitch but was saved. That's off the top of my head - they've all happened this season.

So it's definitely worth a study into why that is happening which is most likely going on, I'm sure. If it's COVID, if it's the vaccines, if it's a mix of the two or if it's something else entirely needs to be known. When elite athletes are clutching at their chests mid-game, it's worrying. I bet we couldn't cobble together as many as five incidents from across the previous 3-4 years of heart issues for players on field.

Got a bit curious and did a quick search and came up with this from 2005.

If this study is an any way representative tbh I’m only surprised that it took so long to install defibrillators at grounds.
The aim of this study was to describe acute coronary syndromes (ACS) with a substantial emotional component in spectators of professional league competition sports events. The study was done at the Barcelona soccer team's home stadium. We recorded cases of ACS that occurred during official competition matches during the 2000-2001 season. A total of 7 episodes of ACS were recorded, 1 involving sudden death, 4 involving acute myocardial infarction and 2 involving angina pectoris. The victim of sudden death had a history of heart disease. The overall risk of ACS was 0.0056 episodes per 100 000 person-hours. We conclude that medical facilities at the stadium facilitated the initial diagnosis of ACS and ensured prompt initial treatment and transport to the reference hospital

Things get more coverage these days, 24 hour news, social media and more cameras than ever at games basically everyone at the game has a decient quality camera in their pocket these days.. here's an article from 2018 about the heart issues in football. Pre pandemic is a decent metric to look at and compare.

yeah that's true.

Like I said, I'm not saying it is COVID. But the spike in cases on the pitch this season is definitely there to see. Denying that would be ridiculous.

So they need to find out why that is.

I agree it needs looking into, whatever the cause is. “Nothing to see here, move on and shut up about it” is a pretty deranged mentality to have imo.
