Hopefully the worst is behind us and the rest of the country won’t be hit quite so hard thanks to their higher vaccination rates. Still can’t believe the number in London is as low as it is.

There are currently (well as of 0800 yesterday) just under 2100 people in hospital with COVID in London, with just under 200 on ventilators. It is not "miniscule", and it is having a big effect on life down here.

The deluded here are the cretins who think that the answer to this, after all the massive problems that have been exposed by this virus (with all the unnecessary deaths, the lockdowns, the economic damage, the lives ruined) is to stick their heads in the sand and think that we can just go back to normal after it. How on earth is "what we need to do is charge people for tests" what you take away from these last two years?

If we do that - and unfortunately I think what the idiots chirp chimes a lot with what the government here want to do - then the damage that will be done when the next one of these hits is going to be even more unforgiveable. A lot of people have learned absolutely fk all from this disaster.

Give it a rest, the state of health services around the world were in a shocking state before covid it was well known and well publicised and every year we were told about how bad things were in the sector during flu season.. why were they let get into that state? Lack of funding... do you actually reckon there'll be funding to allow this charade continue indefinitely? Sooner rather than later life will go back to the way it was and we'll put up with under funded health care like we have done for donkeys years.

The Health Ministry has reportedly decided that Israel will not begin offering fourth doses of the COVID-19 vaccine starting on Sunday as planned for Israelis over 60 and others at risk.

The decision was made at a meeting held by the ministry Thursday evening, Channel 13 news reported.

Nachman Ash, the ministry’s director-general, has yet to approve the campaign and has been examining data from Britain indicating the Omicron variant of the coronavirus causes less severe illness than the Delta strain, the report noted.

It's mental. I was at the dentist this morning. Yes funding is required that's been obvious for decades.. you know what's definitely not going to sort it out, shutting down large parts of the economy while throwing hundreds of billions at covid, under no circumstances is this nearly close to being even anything that resembles a remote possibility that this can continue into even the short to medium term let alone long term., I've run out of words to describe how ludicrous it is to think things can continue this way. Even when every human alive today has died humans will still be paying for this.
When governments realise that they can't keep doing this, that's when to get a test you'll have to have a symptom, then they'll push it out to a few symptoms, this process will start soon probably spring.

The mental gymnastics that the anti vaxxers are engaging in is wild. 1% chance of dying from COVID, “That’s almost nothing, I’ll continue living my life as if there’s no threat.” 0.000001% chance of a bad outcome from vaccination, “OMG, people are dropping like flies from these vaccines, don’t get that poison anywhere near me!!”

Yep, that is pretty much the only point I ever make now. Covid has a 2% mortality rate among unvaxxed, show me any data which demonstrates the vaccine has a higher mortality rate. And when I explain that a 2% mortality rate from the vaccine means there must be over 5 million dead bodies somewhere, they always just leave the conversation to never be seen again.
