I'm not really getting the joke on this. dismissing opponents of lockdown as cranks and nutcases doesn't seem a very sensible way forward when the policy being discussed is the total shut down of the economy for months on end every year. It's something the left does so often, going for the man not the ball.

They also happen to be unvaccinated and they are the primary cause of the lockdown. You couldn't write it.

After seeing them London ICU figures we should bring in vaccine passports for everything including supermarkets. We can't keep making sacrifices for lunatics.

the people who signed the declaration are opposed to lockdown, and some of them may be refuseniks but by no means a majority. Vaccine passports make no sense, as you can still catch the virus and pass it on. It is in fact a false confidence, for anyone genuinely vulnerable, to think they will be safe if they go to somewhere which requires a passport.
Refuseniks need to understand that they have every right to refuse the vaccine, but that if we reach overload and a decision over who gets a ventilator needs to be made, their decision may count against them. we certainly should not be locking down to protect them.

So a German mayor already demanding to send the unvaxxed to prison. Hopefully jail wifi is fast enough to browse GOT

Never mind the loop hole, still anyone can fly into the country and wait 2 full days before they are required to have PCR, no wonder we are Omicron capital of the world.

I think we do have a right to know what they're basing the severity of Omicron on mind, when the experts are giving interviews to the press. So if Ferguson comes out and says there could be x deaths, fine, but it'd be nice for him to also explain why they think that.

I'm not distrusting them. They know a lot more than all of us. But we're talking about locking things down 2 years into this thing still, when we have a booster roll out hitting 900k-1,000,000 people per day, most people double jabbed and/or having had COVID previously etc, and loads and loads of seemingly accurate reports that Omicron symptoms are much milder, so I think it's fair that someone explains just what the modelling is being based off.

@LinekersLegs posted a really good doc in here yesterday. I read half of it, need to read the rest, but the Danes published their models of it being based on being as severe as Delta or half as severe. Would be good if these experts who are happy to do interviews would explain their thinking there too.
As far as I can tell, all of the modelling and reports produced by Ferguson’s team is available to download and read on the Imperial College website.

It’s the press that grabs the worst case scenario from a model and plasters it on front pages.

It's not only about cases. The unvaccinated are clogging up hospitals whereas triple jabbed 80 year olds are calling COVID a cold because they're so well protected now against it.

The simple fact is London ICU is full of unvaccinated Facebook researchers who are now crying saying I wish I got vaccinated. Sadly it's too late and some of them will die.

So 3 weeks into the variant wave.

  • Hospitalisations aren't significantly going up
  • Deaths aren't significantly going up
  • The vast majority of those in hospital are unvaccinated.

So basically f you to the 50 million who went and got vaccinated or the 25 million and counting who have got their boosters.

Data is reflecting elsewhere as well.

'im sorry but despite getting the vaccine every time we have told you to, we are probably going to put restrictions in place for all those who think this is a conspiracy and ended up in hospital'

That pretty much sums it up

Hey ash

Wish people would get it right - austerity and the Tories killed the NHS years ago, not covid or dirty unvaccinated individuals taking up services that their taxes and national insurance have paid for.

There isn't a lack of beds, there's a lack of funding - there's a lack of training and retaining nurses, doctors, specialists etc.

I feel terribly sorry for those working in the NHS, trying to manage this with the slapshod support they have had from this government. Care for a clap anyone?

All this vitriol against unvax people bed blocking and spreading covid everywhere isn't helping - we should be targeting the real cause of the crisis that we are facing, the conservative party, not the people it affects or each other FFS!

Schools will be closed in the new year with homeschooling in place and even tighter restrictions and further loss or liberty - don't think otherwise.

No vaccinated people can't travel abroad? What's next, locked in our own boroughs/streets? Homes?

Johnson and the Tories have screwed the pooch constantly on covid, but I bet their own bank balances have swelled considerably since this all started, as have their rich doner chums - it was never about protecting health or the people and it still isn't, it's about money making.

Johnson didn't mind the bodies piling high in the streets and he still doesn't give a monkeys.

Johnson didn't care and partied while people couldn't see relatives as they were dying alone.

When and where does the buck stop? I know, lets blame the unvaccinated?!
Interesting raw data information from the UK Security Health Agency surveillance report.

COVID-19 vaccine weekly surveillance reports (weeks 39 to 50)

https://www.gov.uk › ... › Immunisation

Table 9. COVID-19 cases presenting to emergency care (within 28 days of a positive specimen) resulting in an overnight inpatient admission by vaccination status between week 46 and week 49 2021.

The majority of hospital admissions with Covid were vaccinated.

Table 10 (a). COVID-19 deaths (a) within 28 days and (b) within 60 days of positive specimen or with COVID-19 reported on death certificate, by vaccination status between week 46 and week 49 2021 Please note that corresponding rates by vaccination status can be found in Table 11.

The majority of deaths from Covid were those that had been vaccinated.

Table 10 (b). Death within 60 days of positive COVID-19 test by date of death between week 46 and week 49 2021.

The majority of deaths were those that had been vaccinated.

This doesn't mean vaccines don't work or about the efficacy of vaccines but it raw data.
