Why are they stopping crowds at outdoor events in Scotland?
I thought the science consistently said indoors was the risk.

UKHSA update on the flu in their regular Covid report p33/34, thankfully still low prevalenceI will be interested to see what the flu death total is this year. Since we ain't in lockdown and we getting colds and bugs again.
Wonder if it is anywhere near the usual amount?
If it is nowhere near, I would be raising an eyebrow or 2 as to what deaths are actually COVID and what were just regular amount of flu deaths.
I get the feeling, Scotland is the test ground for restrictions. With the rest of the UK to follow. How many times have we seen it. Scotland does sommat, the rest follow soon after. Why are they stopping crowds at outdoor events in Scotland?

What have we done now?!Got my booster today, young lady near me went on a big rant about Everton and even to the nurse giving her the booster. I would of left earlier if I could of got a word in ?
What have we done now?!
Always happens to me when I think about Everton ?It was just a general rant , I wouldn’t of minded so much if I didn’t need the bog
If he says the unvaccinated are the enemy the people will self police that situation. No official regulations and our government have destroyed hospitality and live events within a couple of weeks. It seems mere suggestion is enough nowBiden can't really do a whole lot as a lot of their health policies are managed at state level.
I'm not hard anti lockdown if it's absolutely needed. I actually would have seen the logic if they'd have gone into a snap lockdown at the start of the month when Omicron was first detected in the UK. To have done 2-3 weeks to get the booster totally out and keep a lid on it spreading as much as possible. So your hard anti lockdown approach would go the wayside in an election - fine.
I’ve voted conservative and labour in the past and I’ll be voting labour this time because I believe the govts position is not helping business nor is it helping reduce cases.
Already happening isn't it mate - scare tactics and deflection everywhere it seems. If he says the unvaccinated are the enemy the people will self police that situation. Purely anecdotal case but we have close friends whose sister flew in from California on Thursday. She started feeling ill early Friday and by Sunday three members of the family tested positive.Still not confirmed but there are signs that the incubation period for Omicron is less than Delta which will complicate the modeling and testing at the very least.
It certainly might not seem like it given the pandemic mayhem we’ve had, but the original form of SARS-CoV-2 was a bit of a slowpoke. After infiltrating our bodies, the virus would typically brew for about five or six days beforesymptoms kicked in. In the many months since that now-defunct version of the virus emerged, new variants have arrived to speed the timeline up. Estimates for this exposure-to-symptom gap, called the incubation period, clocked in at about five days for Alpha and four days for Delta. Now word has it that the newest kid on the pandemic block, Omicron, may have ratcheted it down to as little as three.![]()
How Long Does Omicron Take to Make You Sick?
The new variant seems to be our quickest one yet. That makes it harder to catch with the tests we have.www.theatlantic.com
Just seems more evidence that Omicron is acting like a cold in how it spreads too. I may be wrong, but it doesn't usually take long to catch a cold off someone does it? Like you usually start showing symptoms within a day.Purely anecdotal case but we have close friends whose sister flew in from California on Thursday. If they have the Omicron variant, it would suggest a shorter incubation period
Think that’s about right. 24-48 hours for a coldJust seems more evidence that Omicron is acting like a cold in how it spreads too. I may be wrong, but it doesn't usually take long to catch a cold off someone does it? Like you usually start showing symptoms within a day.
