Cases aren't rising as much as anticipated. I expected cases to be well over 125,000 today.

I'm starting to think we won't see the predicted 10,000 hospitalisations per day.

To be fair - SAGE did say it could be between 1 and 10,000 per day

Just doesn't seem to make sense. We were on 88,000 on the 16th. Obviously it's a mix of delta and Omicron but you'd think it would much higher than 2000 difference 6 days later.

well it's certainly not because people who are symptomatic haven't been testing, so we can rule that out.

Now, certain measures like people being more careful will have helped. The boosters though will probably be the main thing - we know from the official data that Omicron causes no symptoms 75% of the time if you are boosted.

So, with so many getting boosted, so many double vaccinated, so many having had COVID - or a combination of all of them/two of them - there is plenty of immunity within the population.

Which is why we should be able to be told what the hell the models are being based on. And, obviously, someone qualified to go through them.

it's all waiting and seeing mate but whoever predicted 10,000 deaths a day was on some serious gear...

Will just have to see what the next few days bring. If hopsitalisations are to rise drastically, we'd see that in London very shortly, and the rest of the country by Xmas/a few days after.

It's the staff they need to get sorted and that means doing something about the stupid isolation period.

Only very slightly I think - but most people were expecting a huge number of cases today - It's almost identical to yesterday (90,629)

Total tests are down slightly but it's only about 8% in total and that could easily be down to kids finishing school and not testing.

I don't really understand that logic TBH

Surely, the testing is to protect vulnerable people. I'm testing everyday to make sure my missus' parents (who of whom have health conditions) will not be compromised when we visit on Boxing Day (Christmas Day already having been ruined by isolation)

I still reckon anyone who's not vaccinated through choice should have to pay for any covid related medical bills.
