Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Well, expecting that vaccines would make the disease magically disappear demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of what we are dealing with. Combined with the fact your posts are (understandably) motivated by a deep anger at lockdowns, I don't think I can explain it any better than it already has been hundreds of times on this very thread
I mean I don't have any deep anger at lockdowns at all, I was all for the others however if we need another one now then surely we are saying the vaccine isn't good enough. As it works or it doesn't. I understand it will never disappear but do we just keep doing this year after year every winter.

But if you have chosen to be unvaccinated then why should everybody else who has chosen to have it be locked away if the vaccine works.
As I said above - this isn’t just about unvaccinated. If hospitals can’t cope with any more patients, however they get to that state, it impacts society broadly regardless of anyones’s vaccinated status.

The truth is, nobody knows. The doom mongers in here say we will, but I personally don't think so. The virus is getting less severe and our situation, while it might not feel this way, is slowly but tangibly improving. And it's only slow by the standards of our own perception. The fact is, we have never had to deal with something like this before in our lifetime and have no past experience to draw on to manage our own expectations. That makes it easy to be impatient. But one thing we can say for certain, vaccines have worked, they have made our outcomes much better, our outlook more positive and provided a roadmap out of this. Every inch of research and data support this

But if the vaccine works then the majority of vaccinated people should be very less likely be admitted to hospital. Which was the point of the vaccine.

I think the big question now is what’s the end game? Those not vaccinated yet likely just won’t ever get it. So what do we do? Wait for treatment to get better/more effective? Or are we just accepting this is going to be a thing every year with new variants popping up? People who have done everything right are getting really frustrated, and I don’t blame them.
Speaking bluntly there will get to be a decreasing pool of people, one way or another, for even variants to impact severely as time goes on. Combined with improved treatments like the antivirals the inpact on health services will come down - hopefully we also learn some lessons and don’t run the hospitals at such fine staffing margins.

I wish it was over just so we wouldn't have interminable questions asked about how vaccines work or the precise maths used in the Covid models indefinitely.

Starting to get information from my daughters primary school about possible contingency plans for home learning (again) after Christmas.
When will this nightmare end.?

Had the same email mate and also been told by my eldest lads school, that they`re expecting no end of year GCSE`s and results will be based on " expected grades " again.

It`s beyond ridiculous now.
