Sage again pushing for big restrictions. Need to start ignoring them. This is all a big overreaction to a milder illness
Matters not. Still not milder enough not to put high numbers in hospitals and overwhelm. And until death rates fall in line with comparative countries the government is always going to side with Sage. Them against us is the narrative!

But that’s the phase we are at. Vaccines are being adapted to variants. The type of vaccine is well trialed. The vaccines themselves are well trialed beyond the point of statistical significance. The only real variable that is markedly different is *time*. And I’m not sure, particularly after a 3-6 month period, that’s a massively significant variable in all this.

I think people assume that because the vaccine is *newer* it is more dangerous and that time is a major factor. But realistically, the stage we are at in medical advancement, it’s probably the opposite.

Standing on the shoulder of giants and all that.
Okay mate, look I don't judge anyone badly, I just feel a bit uncomfortable with the thought of all the little ones lining up for jabs I suppose. I think there's other areas to prioritise first but obviously eventually everyone needs to have it.

Which is why they don't need a vaccine for this, complete overreaction and totally unnecessary.. sledgehammer to crack a nut.

But they are naive to Covid mate and we can and have an opportunity to better protect them, while breaking the systemic chain of infection. It’s a no brainier really, to offer the choice, it is actually a choice, again not an absolute.

I never understand the arguement around let them catch it naturally - as if that’s a more healthy or natural option, there are two, ways to get antibodies one is through the vaccine and the other is exposing yourself to a deadly virus, that has proven to have the potential for long term chronic issues. When you frame it like that and apply it to kids, it’s rather stark.

What’s the point in restricting hospitality for a fortnight when 75% of customers walk round Asda and Aldi with no mask?
I'm guessing more prolonged exposure to people you know so more like to catch it there? You're always moving around in a supermarket. I'm not convinced on supermarkets being a big driver of infection to be honest - always wore a mask over summer but more to make others feel better

We won't see any spike in the hospitalisations for at least a week though - if we are to do.

If we're going off Denmark (a few days ahead of us, comparable in terms of weather etc), they're a few days ahead of us in terms of their spike and are yet to see any rise in hospitlisations.

Of course. I totally get that. One of my worst times as a parent was taken my daughter for a blood test. She was hysterical and crying out ‘why are they doing this’ while I had to bear hug her into me so she could move. It was horrible (but necessary at the time).

It’s not easy. And ideally we wouldn’t need to make these decisions.

But I want her to have faith in science and medicine. On the balance of things she’ll be safer. It’ll make other people safer. It’ll help slow the spread, especially in locations like schools.

And I think vaccines are a way for us to build immunity as a society and gradually get is out of this so we can get back to normal.

If they made a decision to lock down right now, it would be to try and slow the surge.

But, they won't do that. If they do make a decision to lockdown, it would come in a week or two, so it would be largely pointless, as the surge is happening now.

And by a week or two's time, we'll clearly see if Omicron is actually having any impact. The people who are dismissive of COVID obviously say it won't be. The people who believe the sky is falling in every other day obviously will think we will have 100,000s deaths.

All the evidence so far shows us that Omicron is very mild, whether that's down to natural infection, vaccines, boosters. It's mild. The issue is how transmissible it is and if it hits enough people quickly enough, then what might that lead to. But based on the evidence we actually have, the SAGE predictions certainly are an overreaction right now, even if it is right to overreact rather than underreact...

I can report 99.9% mask adherence at church today.

I'd also like to see a breakdown church by church and religion by religion.

We need to publicly shame any parts of society or communities that are prolonging this pandemic.

Cancer patients are being undiagnosed and dying waiting for treatment thanks to these unvaccinated vermin. It's time to shine a light on them.

Here's cases updated for yersterdat in four select countries. I chose the Netherlands as they imposed lockdown restrictions yesterday/Friday despite falling case rates (???)

Here's hospitilisations for the same countires. Something is seriously wrong in France... Why do they have so many people in hospital? Low vaccine uptake? Also, as I pointed out, Denmark are well into their Omicron wave (at least 8 days but more like two weeks, with that spike starting on December 5) yet there is no rise in hospitilisations as of yet.

Far more exposure in a supermarket.
