Yea, it seems they changed their plan when the estimate of the deaths went from 100k to 250/300k. The fact that they were willing to let 100k die, is scary, but, at some point you have to draw a line at what number of excess deaths is "acceptable".
Each death will involve someone's nan, brother, friend etc, and is individually tragic, but the best you can realistically do, is accept an excess number of deaths which is in line with a moderately bad flu season. so you'd be talking about 25 to 30k.
I know that sounds utterly heartless, but it's probably the reality of the situation.
Unfortunately, no projection is even close to worse case scenario
If things go out of control and NHS (worldwide) collapse, the death-rate from the virus itself will go up dramatically, no hospitals mean people dying from other diseases too, imagine cities where thousands of sick people with no one to help, people will carry their sick loved ones and run toward any help, chaos on the streets with people dying, people will start attacking hospitals to force their loved one to get help, if hospitals close, people will start attacking their neighbors who are doctors seeking for help, in the same time shops will be closed and people will start attacking and stealing supermarkets (things will disappear in no time if supply chain is broken) after that people will start attacking and killing each others for food, internet will go down, electricity will go down, no more law and order anywhere in the World, hungry sick people on the streets.
All this and we are still talking about 350,000 official cases, that's what? 0.001 of the World's population?
It's get very scary if you think about it, so just stay indoors and let the time pass, each passing minute, scientists and medical professions are finding out more about the virus and understanding more, the longer we (human-race) keep this thing under control, the more chances we have to survive, we still dont have answers about those who are recovering, are they immune to the damn thing? If yes, great news, if not, we are doomed! seriously we are doomed if those who recover are not immune to it, if they are immune to it, they will save us by going to the front lines and taking over supply chain, the more people recover, the better, we are still at the very beginning of this thing, just 0.001 of the world's population infected and everything collapsing around us.
I know it's a nightmare, but it's happening!
