Has anyone travelled by ferry from the UK to the Republic of Ireland? I'm just trying to figure out what test results they need. They say a self administrated test would not be acceptable and neither is an NHS test, so I'm confused as to where I can get the test done.

Here you go mate:

Many private companies are doing private PCR and Antigen tests for travel purposes, my understanding is you have to provide a certificate that proves you've had the negative test.

Before the new variant it was looking like all other EU nations were about to have much bigger winter peaks which would have resulted in deaths higher than our numbers. This might still be the case as they have less natural immunity, time will tell.

they would have to have some peaks, and we'd have to not have had one, in order for them to get deaths higher than our numbers

Sorry anti-vaxxers but I’m not one to take the advice of a bimbo (Stella McCartney) a one hit wonder from the 90s (Right Said Fred) or a fake television doctor who goes around sniffing people’s poo (Gillian McKeith) seriously. However, you’re free to do so, just don’t expect much sympathy from people who aren’t hard of thinking if you’re excluded from doing things you’d like to do.

That's okay bro you keep listening to the CEO of Pfizer.

Our numbers have been horrendous throughout but the idea to be more open in the summer to reduce winter impact is far from the worst idea they've had so far.

well it is fairly bad, I mean its looking very much like its failed and as a country we've lost thousands of people because of it

Let's face it if the deaths averaged 100 a day for the next few years the majority of the public would probably see that as acceptable rightly or wrongly. People don't support additional measures to reduce deaths from 1700 to 1600 a day.

Can I ask a question to the anti vaxxers?

If a country had a mandatory vaccination policy, would you refuse to travel there?
Going to be interesting how the row back on human right last night in Westminster will play out with this mindset in the coming months and years. It's not just going to casts its eyes on the " horrible immigrants*.

which is unfortunately a terrible indictment of the majority of the public

It's the element of why 100 a day rather than the existence of that figure. 100 a day gets lost in the figures of daily deaths when other factors are involved. They also stand out if they are directly a result of covid.

So context is key for the future, otherwise we are going to run a country on numbers that have no context.
