Surprises me tooAnyone know why governments don't help businesses and schools install air filtration or ventilation systems? Would that be more expensive than lockdowns?
Locally they have installed a lot of portable ones in schools including some homemadeSurely it would also take forever?

Know little about their effectiveness myself, hence tagging in haydn who iirc has experience in the field.Didnt know they could be temps. I have a mate who works in that field, and he makes out that its like witchcraft. I guess its in his interest to say that.
Friend of mine who works in admin in the hospitals said the same thing. The biggest admin department in the entire trust has managers upon managers , they have managers , assistant managers , assistant assistant managers etc.The whole of the NHS needs evaluating and reforming.
Quick snap shot. My service has 6 more managers who make decisions over wards, than it does actual wards.
Some wards could easily have 1 manager to 2 wards and not skip a beat.
Where?Kids being told to stay at home at many schools across the UK now. I get the feeling we're heading for a lockdown. Sincerely hope not.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't wear them. I just think in the grand scheme that with Omicron they aren't going to help much. But if they help a tiny bit (like a plaster) that'd be great. I was reading that Omicron particles last in the air up to 4x longer than the previous strains. That's what I meant. If it's so airborne it's going to infect a lot of people regardless of mask wearing or not. But like I said, I'm behind them where they're needed and reasonable for things being able to operate (i.e. masks in certain settings like clubs, gigs aren't going to work, you just might as well shut those places down).I'm not sure if masks are nothing more than a plaster, I'm not really qualified to say otherwise but they seem to have some effect on spreading viral infections and not just covid, which is still a significant benefit as our healthcare system battles away.
I completely agree on how disappointing it is that the UK has solely relied on vaccines. As remarkable achievement as they are, not seeing any sort of move to change society towards healthier lifestyles seems like a big miss towards what could have been a long term improvement that aid healthcare needs among other things. I'm not aware of any new initiatives towards more active lifestyles, air conditioning or air flow improvements (most likely we actually have less regulations after leaving the EU), more responsible policies towards unwell employees being unable to take days off and of course if you are unwell wear a mask and don't put yourself in crowed situations.
Probably the ones that are all about to break up for Christmas...Where?
