Delta will be forgotten in 1 weeks time. The new strain is on another level.

20% cases in one school at once definitely seems like the new variant.

The worry for me are venues like nightclubs, 1 individual with the highly contagious variant could infect 100+ people in the time it takes to have 2 or 3 pints.
This was the point I was making 2 weeks ago when wearing masks in Asda or on the bus made more sense to some.......

Spot on.

You can’t just lock everything down again, without the appropriate support for the affected industries / areas of employment.
It is a complete failure of this Governments public health approach that we are still having to consider on-off lockdowns.

Time limited and targeted lockdowns should be used, but this approach of 'free for all' then lock down and repeat is unsustainable..

And the likelihood of the public compliance with new measures will be greatly reduced on account of No.10 Christmas parties.

At which point so we just bin the nhs off and accept its goosed?

There’s how many patients currently waiting for treatment/ops, and more have been delayed due to the new booster rollout. I’m sure there will be another variant soon too. So more will get delayed.

It’s never ending.

We should probably try binning off the rats in power first who are trying to bleed it dry.

That's a bit of a stretch

But it clearly does need significant reforms and there doesn't seem to be a political will to do it. It's partly funding, but not just all about money either, but I don't have all the answers. I do agree though that it's not right for covid to take total priority and mean other crucial treatments are cancelled.

It’s almost like there’s a group of people who want rid of the NHS, that have the power to cause enough disruption to the NHS in order to accelerate its demise, are using that power to do so.

Can they actually demand that information? My sister was told by her GP not to have the vaccination as she wants to get pregnant. Some people have genuine reasons for not having it, would that not then potentially isolate those people?

Questions I’m not expecting you to know the answer to by the way, mate @summerisle it just seems a bit much.
I'm sure, if it came to pass, there'd be exemptions.

The whole of the NHS needs evaluating and reforming.
Quick snap shot. My service has 6 more managers who make decisions over wards, than it does actual wards.
Some wards could easily have 1 manager to 2 wards and not skip a beat.

Obviously your sister would follow her GPs advice but have to say am a bit surprised by it.

@DrEFC is that the usual guidance for UK people trying to get pregnant?

Know that here in US CDC have been trying to get those trying to become pregnant to get vaccinated because of the increased dangers.
  • People who are pregnant or recently pregnant are more likely to get severely ill with COVID-19 compared with people who are not pregnant.
  • Getting a COVID-19 vaccine can help protect you from severe illness from COVID-19.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is recommended for people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to get pregnant now, or might become pregnant in the future.
  • People who are pregnant may receive a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot.
  • Evidence about the safety and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy has been growing. These data suggest that the benefits of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine outweigh any known or potential risks of vaccination during pregnancy.
  • There is currently no evidence that any vaccines, including COVID-19 vaccines, cause fertility problems in women or men.
