Australia's regional lockdown policy has caused uproar in the country and has been widely regarded as ludicrous.

Their state premiers have started to sound like the president from the Hunger Games.

Their vaccine roll out was crap when it should have been quick and easy and that's why they had to stay in lockdown for so long.

It's not a country that should be lauded. Their federal government is awful and their state ones have gone way, way too far.

… yet they’ve received better outcomes than us in almost every measureable category

Yesterday, the gov said the data to make a decision on Omicron / Plan B wouldn’t be available for another week.

Something must have happened in the last 24 hours to make the rumoured decision today.

No idea what what that could be.

Unless this is a scheme to pre-discredit lockdown measures (which it might), I don’t think this is a dead cat. They’ve just probably realised what putting another 50k on to the already existing case numbers might result in.

Masks have not stopped being compulsory where I live, so not sure what your point is. I'm not anti mask, and I am pro vaccine as they come, but I am very anti business being shut or people being told who they can have in their own private home. Those are things a government should have no say over.

Compulsory mask wearing stopped in England for many month's...
Work at home orders reportedly being readied,.seems the irreversible is indeed reversible. Sorry that effects share holding in Costa or Pret that relies on work traffic for its profits.
Think we are cutting to the crux of the matter keyboard warriors who hold no responsibility and those in public office who know only too well where the responsibility will fall when said keyboard warriors loved one become death statistic because of this virus be that directly or indirectly.
Actions have consequences and prevention is better than cure and all that. Civilized society simply cannot allow indulgent behaviours of the few be negative for the many.

They also have the benefit of having a giant country with nothing in it for miles so besides city centres, people are socially distanced via where their house is.

The UK would be much better off if you had to drive 15 minutes to find the next person on your street.

They do, but we have potential advantages that we could have used as well.

You genuinely think COVID is the only important thing in the world don't you?

Very strange outlook on life.
