Well yeah, the issue is the randomness. I don’t believe anyone called the police suspecting a filthy unvaccinated person was lurking in the shadows.

Probably not that, but something like “such and such pub is not trading in line with the restrictions, a mate of mine caught COVID in there” would probably get a response.

There’s also a lot of personal risk to the licensees (in terms of the consequences of losing it), which is probably why so few of them took part in the demented acts of resistance that gym owners, hairdressers and other people who’d be on the Golgafrincham Ark Ship B came up with during the lockdowns.

What have we become.

They are the next level for sure but it's a role that does take it out of you. It's purely a heuristic rather than anything data-driven, but when the wife was working in ICU I recall her saying that few of the nurses on the ward were very old and few had worked there for long periods (10 years, say), simply because it is so draining physically and mentally.

I can imagine that, not just for the time they put in but through the mental concentration that can be far more tiring than any physical exertion……

I could see it happening but are there genuinely still people who believe that they ONLY can catch it from the unvaccinated?

Don't you miss the days when no one was checking your phone at a pub?

I know you are a traveler, remember your posts about Iran, (I also ve been there, fascinating country) so you defo should have a free soul in you. This must be uncomfortable for you, at least a little bit?
To be honest mate, I started going to bars again about 3 months ago and I feel more comfortable in the ones where they check properly. Likewise with travel.

I understand you think there is a need. But don't you miss the days when there was no need?

Reading something on the nursing times. They reckon 208k staff are unvaccinated at this time. Witham estimate that 50% of those will refuse to be vaccinated.
Well that's going to make for a jolly conversation in April. How the hell do we replace all of them?

Original lockdown aside, my pub going experience has not been impeded one bit.

It’s funny but I don’t miss the ‘good old days’ as nothing has really changed in that regard.

The only thing I’ve noticed is more ‘Sunday drinkers’. The ones that have poor pub etiquette and do things like stand at the bar while it’s busy etc.
