Actually, yes I do remember seeing cops do that. And frisking people in the street. And checking ID for underage drinkers. You never been to a pub before?

Has it? Never happened in any pub I’ve ever been in in my entire life. Not once have I or anyone I know ever been randomly forcibly searched.

It does happen, a lot. There are powers under the Licencing Act for cops to go into pubs, examine the books, check whose in there, whether they are drunk or rowdy etc.

Obviously those powers are mostly used on places where there are reports of problems rather than at random (which might have been the case here, if someone has phoned them).

Well yeah, the issue is the randomness. I don’t believe anyone called the police suspecting a filthy unvaccinated person was lurking in the shadows.
