The vaccines to my mind have limited/no effect and are just an way of justifying business as usual to society.

the infection rates and death rates are far too high and prove that point, which is why we are moving back towards a new lockdown.

Last winter 80k cases translates to roughly 1500 deaths.
Right now, 45k cases translates to roughly 150 deaths.

Same kind of ratios for hospitalisations. How can you say the vaccine has limited/no effect?

Cases clearly are not low enough to not justify further restrictions/lockdowns.

Just looking at yesterdays data - 42k - exactly one year prior - 12k.

So unfortunately, you are talking nonsense.

Vaccine has been rolled out completely now, which is wasnt then as well.

We were told we could go back to normal with the vaccine

That was a lie.

I am slightly concerned that these have been the rules in Wales/Scotland for quite a long time and cases in both are comparable to England. Will this be enough to stop the new advanced variant?
I'd say 100% not. Germany insists on actual medical grade masks in public places and look at them.

It clearly spreads with close contact, in homes and workplaces etc. Social distancing and lockdowns are the only way its ever been slightly controlled. Schools have to stay open too so there will be a base level the whole time

I think we're on the road to a lockdown January til April. I'm just hoping the April opening is a full one, and we don't have to wait til June or July again

So you say mr. medical expert.

They have used this so called 'variant' to save face over failed vaccines with regard out of control case numbers.

Surely if cases were out of control hospitalisations would be too? Or are they hiding that information?

The 7 day average for hospitalisations is about 25% lower than it was a month ago.

Don't worry the 4th and 5th in the spring will stop it I'm sure... (as I'd guess these updated ones for the variant will end up being 2 doses if it's essentially a new vaccine)
I actually had the double vaccine because in all honesty I believed it would protect me. Its obviously bs, the vaccine is as good as water.

We went into lockdown in October 2020 which is why cases fell dramatically in November.
