Essentially, vaccines for the vulnerable, anti viral medication and hoping the virus becomes less lethal overtime is our only way out of the pandemic.

Just looking there mate, the U.K. had incredibly had 1 more Covid case then Germany today, population of Germany is 83 million, population of U.K. is 67 million.

So the U.K. would actually be higher than Germany on that chart, and in comparison with the USA close to 4 times as many cases as the USA.

That said the curve would be flatter and we wouldn’t see that alarming spike we are seeing in Germany. It’s the exponential growth rate really that’s the huge concern. The U.K. have a better vaccine profile to.

You'd wonder about Omicron, that’s incredible growth, while we can say with a decent amount of certainty at this stage that Omicron is far more transmissible than Delta.

Germany test around 30% of the UK daily testing numbers. No wonder their cases are lower. Their positive % over the past week is significantly higher than the UK (almost 3x higher).

Probably a more reliable comparison between the 2 would look at numbers in hospital and deaths.

That last stat probably indicates how much better targeted their testing regime is; as has been said don’t forget how many of our tests are done as routine rather than as part of any attempt to trace anything.

TBF a lot of the RW outlets have had contrarian voices throughout - I mean look at JHB, Dan Wootton or noted cretin Toby Young.

No amount of being publicly wrong has kept them out of print or off the TV or radio, nor will it ever.

Not really; IIRC I’ve said several times on here that how we do testing is more important than just the numbers of tests.

I am slightly concerned that these have been the rules in Wales/Scotland for quite a long time and cases in both are comparable to England. Will this be enough to stop the new advanced variant?
