Reports out of S Africa are saying, yes it's more transmissible but it's less severe. The virus can sometimes trade transmissability for virulence.

Nobody has come out and said its nearly 'just' another Flu, but it maybe heading that way - hopefully

As you say, initial reports suggest it’s a milder but more transmittable variant. Hopefully that turns out to be the case and the headless chickens can stop running around……

I work for a large global company. Today hearing about people dropping like flies with Covid from several locations/countries. Feels like Omicron has arrived

hang on, i see a conspiracy here - as far as i am aware, flies can't catch covid? are the people dropping from the sky?

flagged.

They have been saying for nearly 2 years now the hospitals are overrun on the verge of collapse, it has never been that way. Pure scaremongering.

I like how you pretend that I said “hospitals are overrun” there, and then answered the question as if that had been said.

As it happens, several hospitals have gotten to full capacity with COVID patients at various times over the pandemic. That the system didn’t collapse was probably due to lockdown causing case numbers overall to drop.

So what is? Just continue accepting 100+ dead a day and full hospitals as it is and hope it doesn’t get worse?

Increased vaccinations and other treatments. NHS needs significant funding too. Not a 4 month lockdown followed by probably more lockdowns when it gets past the point of small scale test and trace capacity.

Those magical pfizer pills will be in mass circulation soon which can help cut serious illness by upto 50% as well in the coming months.

Essentially, vaccines for the vulnerable, anti viral medication and hoping the virus becomes less lethal overtime is our only way out of the pandemic.

You cant control nature you can only live amongst it and live/go on we must do.
