Welcome back Wayne
That all sounds very reasonable mate.
But me and the missus are doing our best to follow government guidelines. Our nearest supermarket is 5 miles away. We tend to go later in the day when they are less busy (social distancing and all that) and we would normally do a main shop once a week when we stock up for the following week. This week we have had to go Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and yesterday we actually went to two separate supermarkets, the second being 15 miles away. And still we don't have enough fresh food to last us a week.
Ideally we'd prepare our own meals, except we haven't been able to buy much in the way of fresh meats to do that. We did manage to get a couple of nice looking steaks yesterday and a couple of chicken dings.
Unless we ration it the wine and beer will also run out before then. We tried to buy 4 bottles of wine (2 each) yesterday. Despite the shop being empty (literally about 4 other shoppers apart from us in there) and only about 10 items in our trolley, the checkout guy said we could only buy 3 bottles of wine. But presumably had I got there at 6am that morning I could have walked out with 3 boxes of beer. Anyway we gave 1 back without complaint or comment.
So yeah. I suppose that is my definition.
My wife has never done a ‘weekly’ shop. It’s all day to day. So no stockpile as she would not allow it. I’m working on the basis that if if it’s not there then we’ll have something else. Fortunately I do have access to wine now the pub is closed, together with industrial sized toilet rolls. Luckily milk cannot be hoarded so that’s OK, and there are several small shops in the villages around where we can find stuff. I also heard today that the local Tesco will be allowing the likes of ourselves access between 9-10am Mon/We’d/Fri, but that will mean me disobeying the instruction to stay indoors for 12 weeks.....
