This is good news at a difficult time of year. Let's hope it continues for the next 5 or 6 weeks as you'd imagine Christmas and New Year will result in spread. A lower base for that period would be great.

I do think it is starting to seem unlikely that the plan C will get implemented this winter now. Plan B potentially could happen in December.

Thankfully the drops are beginning to reflect in hospitalization stats too,

This needs to get fixed sharpish however, utter madness to turn people away for want for a few hours.

Welcome to the power of the media.

I was going to link a story showing how 11000 people have caught covid whilst in hospital for something else and then died. That is an eye opening figure, the story , although banded on rag sources comes from the telegraph via freedom of information.

Googling for a non paywall non mail source of the news turned up something interesting.

The telegraph also ran this story in January it seems. Same figure. So it puts into perspective how the news is presented to us and why you shouldn't just absorb all information found there. Two different stories , 11 months apart saying the same thing. So is that a further 11000 or is it the same 11000 just reported again like it's a new story?

It's then the possibility that 1 in 8 catching it in hospital has to factor in when. The original story takes it from that winter start almost which at the start of the pandemic you would expect that to be the case, new virus and all that.

Just goes to show a story containing data , that you would factor as being true is unreliable by itself without the additional information to go with it. In this case when and what time scale is missing!

Whatever I'm ill with atm - which isn't COVID - is worse than when I had COVID.

Really bad, chesty cough that I've had for 10 days. The last few days I've got a really bad head cold, and just generally feel drained. That's likely because of the cough as it's stopping me from sleeping well.

My symptoms started when I was in London on October 30th and they've got worse if anything.

Bird flu perhaps?

I don't think so, as it doesn't really feel like flu. I've had flu before and that was more like when i had covid.

This is the cough that's the worst thing, I just can't shake it, but I'm not feeling sick or fatigued in the same way as when I had COVID, but it's lasted much longer (I was only ill with COVID for like 4-5 days, it's the after-effects that have been more of a pain for me).

I have thought that perhaps given I had COVID that it's made this worse. I don't smoke, but I've been coughing like I've smoked 20 a day for 20 years.

Long covid perhaps. See a medic .

Very odd coverage by ITV with an outrageous headline and then admitting in a later tweet that they're comparing November statistics to August which is obviously a quiet period. Another example of a media scare story.

It’s no wonder we’ve got anti vax protesters everywhere, this kind of irresponsible reporting is proof of a conspiracy in their eyes.

I had a virus, which I thought was flu at time, but looking back it didn't feel like the flu I'd had before.

My chest has only now recovered fully... 5 weeks it took.

This video explains succinctly why mask mandates don't/won't work and why a lockdown is pointless at this point, as it simply delays the inevitable. COVID is now endemic, meaning cases will always occur regardless of vaccination rates, and behavioural fatigue will make people take risks because they simply want to live their lives, which is understandable.

We just have to accept the reality with this - COVID will continue to kill the vulnerable/elderly like a lot of diseases do, regardless of vaccination, which simply mitigates the risk substantially but doesn't eliminate it. You can't eliminate COVID.
