Dr. Anthony Fauci said those who received the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine should’ve been given two shots from the beginning.

“What the advisers to the FDA felt is that, given the data that they saw, very likely this should have been a two-dose vaccine to begin with,” Fauci told ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday

He also suggested that those who received a shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine would likely have the flexibility to get a booster from either Moderna or Pfizer.

Hoping they decide this soon. Having my sister hold off a bit on a J&J booster for now

Oh ffs
I think I’d be taking my kids out of that school if that is the level of intelligence the bosses have. Dread to think what they’re being taught

Cases of psychosis have soared over the past two years in England as an increasing number of people experience hallucinations and delusional thinking amid the stresses of the Covid-19 pandemic. There was a 75% increase in the number of people referred to mental health services for their first suspected episode of psychosis between April 2019 and April 2021, NHS data shows.

The rise continued throughout the summer, with 12,655 referred in July 2021, up 53% from 8,252 in July 2019. Much of the increase has been seen over the last year, after the first national lockdown, according to data analysed by the charity Rethink Mental Illness. More than 13,000 referrals were made in May 2021, a 70% rise on the May before when there were 7,813 referrals. The charity is urging the government to invest more in early intervention for psychosis to prevent further deterioration in people’s mental health from which it could take them years to recover.

It says the statistics provide some of the first concrete evidence to indicate the significant levels of distress experienced across the population during the pandemic. A study earlier this month found that anxiety and depression around the world increased dramatically in 2020, with an estimated 76m extra cases of anxiety and 53m extra cases of major depressive disorder than would have been expected had Covid not struck. Women and young people were disproportionately affected, the researchers said.

Be the media causing psychosis, dangerous media, not very responsible media, causing panic which in turn causes psychosis, naughty media... THE MEDIA OK! :)

Of course dear, it's why every ambulance service in the country is on "black alert" you silly old man...

Why are you using this tweet to have a go at someone on a covid thread? Ambulances queuing outside hospitals is an annual problem and has been since well before Covid.. scaremongering tweet relying on people forgetting what life was like pre covid.

The only thing that has changed in profile of the virus is the environment.

Its really simple, you are less likely to be infected in the Spring/Summer, people are outside, windows are open, ventilation is good, you get vitaman D.

In Autumn/Winter you are inside, windows are closed, ventilation is poor, you are socialising inside.

Its absolutely inevitable that cases are going to spike, as will admissions and unfortunately ICU admissions and fatalities.

Thus it ever has been in terms of respitory illness, this is what we call “Flu Season”, we know it’s been coming since last Spring, there should be a range of plans in place as contingencies. What we don’t know is the scope yet as the vaccine rollout is different from last winter, but a spike is inevitable. The other thing that would be a huge enabler, would be no mutation this year, the British variant knocked us all out last Jan, another mutation that decreases the effectiveness of the vaccines could be hugely regressive, it’s like this an increase in the spread of this means a greater opportunity for mutation.

Let’s get to next April, baton down the hatches and do the personal bits to keep yourself safe, it really important. Get your flu jab and take a booster if offered.

Funny...
Only difference there is a back log of illnesses that went untreated while the NHS was effectively closed to manage COVID that are now medical emergencies... It's no wonder how many COVID dead we have! So no it's not like before, is it?

Out in the Algarve at the moment and the general behaviour of people here is completely different to the UK.

Despite the sunshine, carefree outdoor eating and drinking, set foot indoors and you are left in no doubt that there is still a pandemic.

Masks, hand sanitisation and one way circulation systems with social distancing still in place.

People just seem to adopt the requirements as common sense, without the childish outrage at a perceived loss of freedoms seen back home.

The "freedom" argument is really weird.

Not a fan of Klopp but his drink driving argument was perfect.

That’s it, I find it silly myself, if you get a gash on your head you are sterilising it and putting a bandage on it as precaution. Same thing.

Maybe a better analogy is It’s like driving your car without a seat belt - personal precautions offer a huge degree of protection for very little effort or inconvience.

I honestly think Hesitancy or being contrary is very much egocentric attention seeking behaviour to be honest - for those who have the choice, you can have a view point and choice, why shive it down others throats - if I come across someone hesitant or precaution shy and they launch into the tirade, I just say I don’t care and don’t want to know, takes the wind right out of their sails. Its like feeding trolls. Though recognising the right to personal agency and choice, that’s fine, but you don’t need to wear the T-shirt.

Ultimately we are very lucky, we have a degree of choice and control all this, we are lucky to be from the western world with modern Goverments who in the main who have looks after us, while we have the ability to significantly mitigate the risk to ourselves by personal choice as we aren’t living in poverty in the main - the majority off the world not so lucky.
