in fairness, it's compulsory there right? Whilst in the UK it's not? I was back in the UK in August and I thought roughly about 20% of people were wearing them. Which I thought was actually not too bad considering it's not compulsory.

Masks are optional in the UK in most settings. You still see some people wearing them but it has reduced a lot since July.

The case numbers over the past few weeks haven't increased which is a bit surprising considering schools and universities have returned.

Anyone listen to this tripe above to get yourself a fine in Northern Ireland Scotland and Wales as it's a requirement in most indoor settings, on the lines of this. Face coverings must be worn in all indoor public places, and public transport, including taxis, supermarkets shops etc.

Other than England, it's pretty much mask elsewhere in the devolved nations, just stepfords trying to be smart knobs about the union.

Hopefully people don't use this forum for mask rule guidance but you are correct it is England only thats managed to achieve normality. Although after being in North Wales recently I'm not too sure that compliance there is particularly high. Cases in Scotland have been sky high recently so I doubt compliance is great there either.

Hospital figures - 100 deaths were announced today, down 86 on yesterday and down 59 on last Wednesday. 68 deaths were in English hospitals, down 106 on yesterday and down 53 on last week. The 7 day rolling average falls to 116.14

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 166 deaths were announced today, down 37 on yesterday and down 35 on last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 139.14

For the 60 day cut, 189 deaths were announced today, down 57 on yesterday and down 47 on last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 161.29

See Germany are ending quarantine pay for unvaccinated people.

Seems like a good idea.

I'd like to see that in place here. Benefits cut off too.

If they have no social conscience maybe hitting them in the pocket will help.

TBF I think any idea that makes it more likely an infected person doesn’t quarantine is a terrible idea. The contribution to society then comes from entering quarantine, much more than it does from them getting vaccinated.

Good point.

I just want jabs in arms now really and am sick of talk of how to incentivise people.

If the thought of saving human lives isn't enough for them I prefer a more punitive approach.
