Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Meanwhile, cases are collapsing down here. Like 75% down. Even Bristol, which for weeks was a ghastly dark purple on the Covid map, shows signs of light blue and even green in places.

The UK (and most of Europe) reopening approach now seems to be looking like the right decision.

The USA is a weird mix. Some states are trying to mask 2 year olds and others have vaccinated about 30% of their population. Somewhere inbetween is the right answer. No child in primary school should have to wear a mask for example but all adults and possibly teens should be vaccinated.

Hospital figures - 186 deaths were announced today, up 137 on yesterday and up 31 on last Tuesday. 174 deaths were in English hospitals, up 149 on yesterday and up 32 on last week. The 7 day rolling average rises to 124.57

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 203 deaths were announced today, up 154 on yesterday and up 18 on last Tuesday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 144.14

For the 60 day cut off, 246 deaths were announced today, up 193 on yesterday and up 24 on last Tuesday. The 7 day rolling average rises to an even 168

The irony of them suggesting the kids to 'own your decision' and it's 'your choice' whilst severely trying to influence the kids decision.
The risk of vaccinating kids is higher risk than Covid for them IMO. My kids won’t be getting vaccinated.

I'm by no means anti-vax, but this is my stance too - I was happy following the advice of the JCVI, but I'm not happy following the government being contrarian to that advice.
My son is 18 and he doesn’t want it my daughters 12 and she won’t be getting it.
Maybe 2/3 years time then possibly but not before then.

Im kind of in agreement. I think maybe over 16's could get it. My 10 year old im certainly hesitant for currently. However they have had 4 kids from her class catch covid this week. Fingers crossed everyone is safe.

I’ve got a mate whose extremely ill and has just finished his chemo course , tested positive for covid the other day and his only symptoms are loss of taste and smell . Without hyperbole That vaccine has saved his life plain and simple .
My wife and I have plenty of risk factors. Overweight, albeit quite active, I have high blood pressure and my wife is asthmatic. Both fully vaxxed and had COVID last week. Both now fine and neither ever close to needing medical attention. Biggest worry was our 5 year old son having a temperature overnight one night. I do think the vaccine made a big difference for us.
