Deaths aren't rising anywhere nearly as sharply enough that should stop the reopening - imo Legs.

Ultimately there's a number that will be acceptable, as grim as it sounds, to any government for the trade off after 18 months, and most of the population see it that way too.

We absolutely have to keep a close eye on it all though, I know, I don't want to come across as being all for everything being back to how it was just yet. And I'm gonna keep wearing my mask in public places for the time being too.
Which is fine, we can all come to different conclusions on the same data.

Was just clarifying that your initial statement was inaccurate as deaths are unfortunately rising (although thankfully at a slower pace due to the vaccinations) and that an additional rise is already baked in as they will be people who were captured in the case data some time ago.

Hospital figures - 5 deaths were announced today, nothing to compare from yesterday but it’s up 2 on last Monday. 4 deaths were in English hospitals, again nothing to compare from yesterday but it is up 3 on last week. The 7 day rolling average rises to 25.14

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 6 deaths were announced today, down 20 on yesterday and down 3 on last Monday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 28.57

For the 60 day cut off, 6 deaths were announced today, down 24 on yesterday and down 3 on last Monday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 34.86

"GBS is a neurological disorder in which the body's immune system damages nerve cells, causing muscle weakness or in the most severe cases paralysis. Each year in the United States, an estimated 3,000 to 6,000 people develop GBS; it is typically triggered by a respiratory or gastrointestinal infection. Most people fully recover from GBS," the CDC spokesperson said.

"Reports of GBS after receipt of the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine in the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) are rare, but do likely indicate a small possible risk of this side effect following this vaccine. Around 100 preliminary reports of GBS have been detected in VAERS after 12.8 million doses of J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine administered. These cases have largely been reported about two weeks after vaccination and mostly in males, many aged 50 years and older."

The same pattern is not seen with the other two vaccines authorized in the United States, made by Moderna and Pfizer. The spokesperson said the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices would discuss the matter in an upcoming meeting.

I have a friend with this. Pretty sure they caught it from petting a cat on holiday and ended up in hospital for months and basically had to learn how to walk again. Regularly has issues with it a few times per year. Quite a nasty illness.

One death is too many but these figures...6 people dying, more people commit suicide daily I reckon. Time to turn the page imo.
