How are you managing that then? sounds like it could be difficult if you get a crowd of people you are not familiar with.

Doesn't sound a bad idea in theory though.

Small village pub, everyone knows everyone. The staff will do a check and put them on the list, once off, then check others as they arrive. Anyone outside, and we have a big outside area, is not an issue. There are a number of pubs around us that have recently had to close for ten days to do a deep clean because staff got Covid. Hopefully we’ll be fine before getting past the 19th…..

Well surely there's going to have to be a drop in infections at some point?

Yes there probably will be soon. I seen something the other day which stated parts of the North West should start to drop in the next few weeks. I do think it will be a problem in the winter though, its not going to disappear.

So how do infections drop if everything is open?

I'm by no means an expert but its down to the number of available people to pass it on to I believe? Look at the numbers from Florida over the past year. They've been open for a very long period of time but it still peaks and falls off.

Pubs and entertainment venues are going to have to be set up for it come autumn or they won't have insurance - that's my dad's theory anyway, and he ran places for 40 years.

This all relates to the covid pass thing, obviously. If your place isn't geared up for checks for people (I guess it'd have to be QR'd for a lot of places on the door @peteblue ?) then insurance companies won't pay out if they end up having to shut for COVID-related reasons. Like near Pete, one of our locals had to shut for 2 weeks recently because of a COVID outbreak among their staff.

It's crap but it's the way it's gonna be to get people vaccinated. Two-tier society ultimately, but the idiots who haven't got vaccinated - barring ones with genuine concerns like pregnancy etc - will need to get it done.

On that note, have today moved my second dose to mid-August, but I'm planning to go to a walk-in by the end of this month (so 3-6 weeks after my first dose). Just want to check the recommendations for what is actually the best gap for Pfizer. They tested 3 weeks initially but real-world evidence is suggesting 6-8 is best for long-term protection. I wanna be dosed up asap, which at least avoids isolation unless I actually have the thing.

They don't until everybody catches is and either lives or dies

This is the herd immunity the Tories have wanted since day one - It's just that the vaccines are keeping death numbers palatably low so they can get away with it now
Wait, what? lol This isn't even close to true.

Herd immunity in the UK will be achieved because of the vaccines (herd immunity is literally the goal of vaccines).

There's still going to be an awful lot of sick and poorly people, some with long term effects.
Still as long as they don't die or even need to be hospitalised, then it's all fine isn't it.
