As far as I can make out 2 of the major things that helps stops/reduces the spread of the virus are

1) Vaccinations
2) Face Masks

We are continuing to get people vaccinated (which is good) but now proposing to get rid of most of the requirements for face masks which I just don't understand.

We already know that we can do very little in stopping any new variant from spreading so why take away one of our primary defences?

we can’t with what we have now, but we really could stop new variants from spreading with better track and trace

Just done the school pick up. Fewer than ever number of masks.

I wear one to protect others. They do little to protect the person wearing them (unless it's one of those high grade medical ones).

They do reduce the velocity of the air you breathe out significantly. I hate wearing them but will continue to do so for a while when indoors/public transport etc. Simply to protect others from me.

Masks aren’t going mate, it’s going to be down to the individual if they want to wear them or not.

Plenty still will.

Actually, there really isn't much evidence to suggest that masks are doing that much at all.

I think we should keep them for now, and I'll probably wear one in public places indoors until at the very least I've got my second dose, but meh, the main thing is social distancing, not really masks.

But social distancing is unsustainable, and crap.

PCR confirms I have it. Been pretty unwell the last 24 hours, similar to having the flu. Luckily it's stayed off my chest so far.

Although deaths might be dramatically reduced, there's going to be a lot of ill people this summer

Hope the vaccine does its job - sure it will - and means you just have a bit of a bad bug mate

Plenty of journalists will have plenty of things to write about regarding masks.
