Well that's the risk, but we aren't getting out of this risk free are we.
We have to try and keep trying, so far what we're doing is working. The hope is the boosters will add further protection to those who need it.
Even though hospitalisations and deaths appear to be low for now. Another concern I have with the high levels of cases currently experiencing is with the amount of virus circulation so high, the scope for the elderly and vulnerable of any age (who are fully vaccinated) coming into contact with COVID is significantly increased with potential poor outcomes due to them being less resilient, despite vaccination given.Hospitalisations increasing, but not in line with the number of positives.
What concerns me is the inevitable mutation from the disease being spread so widely. Again, we cannot ignore this.
We'll see what actually happens when the time comes. The plan appears to be that actually yes, we are getting out of this risk free. Removing all restrictions on the 19th is going to happen, and we are not going to fix / improve test and trace; everything is going to go fantastically so we won't need it. There are even articles in the RW press today actually calling for test and trace to be stopped.
For all the reasons I've gone on at length about for the past year and a bit, this to me is absolute madness. How bad would it have to have been for people in charge to think "you know, lets do something to ensure we don't get absolutely crushed again next time if things go wrong" rather than trying to go back to a system that failed so horrifically last time?
I hope this has gone away, but if it hasn't and if we end up locking down the country again the government should be removed.
But the virus will always be here. So that will always be a risk?Even though hospitalisations and deaths appear to be low for now. What people don't realise is the virus will always be here. @tsubaki talks about track and trace but the Indian variant came from abroad. The simple fact is we need to move forward and allow people to live. There is no stopping this virus. Its here forever. Anyone who thinks otherwise is quite frankly deluded.
2683 new cases in France yesterday.
Just saying.
I've tried it and it works.![]()
