Yeah but the assumption is if you get the first you aren't averse to getting the second.

The problem would arise if the population wasn't getting any vaccine offered.

The drop off in second vaccines 45+ is simply because of the wait between the first and second required. For every age group that falls within the time frame for both doses, the conversion rate is extraordinarily high.

Yep i think they are fair assumptions mate. Not sure what the craic is in the UK with second doses and where yee are at tbh, you guys will no more.

I think going forward you have to factor in dose 3 as well, the most vulnerable were done in the Uk in what Dec, so they will be coming up to Aug/Sep for a booster, or D3 or whatever. That would be good because we know we head into problematic territory in the autumn going into winter.

There seems to be a lot of that going on, in here as well, by mixing or comparing data from ‘whole population’ and ‘adult population’......

It is useful though comparing, its fine seeing over 18s% as that is the initial focus. Though it seems like the next step is going down to be vaccinating down to 12 year olds and then a decision needs made on younger from there.

Why overall population is useful, is the younger you go the wider the population pyramid gets, if you get my drift - so you have an idea of the job of work that remains.

I caught 5 minutes of the Marr show this morning and he was interviewing the mayor of London and he was clearly trying to force him to say that Wembley having crowds for the semi and final is a bad idea. Why are the media lockdown obsessed?

Anyone else intrigued as to what the exit strategy is going to be for some of these early success story nations like Australia and New Zealand who have become hermit kingdoms? Credit for saving thousands of lives but they are now in a tricky spot with it now being widely accepted that the virus is here to stay. A a result of their success there is likely to me a reluctance within the population to vaccinate. Do you think we are likely to see a situation where global travel without quarantine returns in a year or 2 but there will still be a small number of countries locked down pursuing zero Covid?

Because keeping the public in a semi state of fear and paranoia is good for their business ?

If you had seen more of the programme, Marr was off last weekend cos he caught a bout of Covid, which he thought was a normal summer sniffle. He had no idea how he got it. That couched many of his covid questions throughout the other interviews.

The point where he said London has the lowest uptake of the vaccination in the UK may have played a part in why he was bringing it up - a round about way at a dig.

No hospital figures reported today, last week’s late revealed total was 2

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 11 deaths were announced today, down 12 on yesterday and up 5 on last Sunday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 17.71

For the 60 day cut off, 12 deaths were announced today, down 18 on yesterday and up 4 on last Sunday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 23.43

Sydney and the NT gone into a circuit breaker with case instances of Delta.

Think Oz is about 10% into their vaccine rollout.

I was astonished when I saw their/your vaccine data. 3% have had 2 doses. No idea why mind, maybe they didnt get any till very recently.

Comparison is fine, but apples must be compared with apples....

I think because it’s been been pretty much non problematic over there really, there hasn’t been the urgency really, they were happy to hang about while the States and Europe got going to see how they got on, other thing is the gaccine# have been produced largely by European and American investment that’s seen both jurisdictions at the top of the order que. A couple of other variables like Fedral Goverment, logistics and being very careful about using vaccines re: clotting etc, makes up a slow progress rollout.

Obviously kids need doing asap but priority has to be adult population. COVID is proven to, in general, not impact kids as badly. It's that they transmitted it to the adults who would be more susceptable.

Get the adult population covered and have a vaccine roll out in schools for next term, would be the sensible solution (not that I'm backing the government to do it like but they have at least got the vaccine roll out right so far).

Personally think we need to assess the data more on the 16-30 bracket before we go jabbing under 18's imo.

The US and Israel have flagged up abnormal levels of Myocarditis from the Prfizer/Moderna jobs in this age group particularly after the 2nd dose. Whilst Myocarditis can clear up it can also lead to potential scarring of the heart/arteries.

The risk/reward of jabbing under 18's has to be weighed up before they do it imo. We are living with Covid for the foreseeable anyway not like we are wiping it out anytime soon.

I don't see us ever getting back to normal again. I think there's more at play than just the virus but that's me putting my tinfoil hat on. You can't give a government such over reaching powers and expect them to completely relinquish them.

Things like track and trace and digital ID are here to stay. Same with the new pop up bike lanes that are all over every major town and city in the country. I think a lot of the work from home types are going to be very surprised when they try to drive back into a city and find the roads are down to one lane and there are new cycle lanes installed with raised kerbs and barriers everywhere.
