The point is that staff are expected to do things to keep patients safe. Not having a vaccine puts patients at risk. If a surgeon had a personal aversion to washing their hands, would you say "sure, that's alright, on you go Jack"You don't put PPE into your body.
I'm not an anti-vaxxer and will get the vaccine. But it's everybody's personal choice what they do with/put into their body. It's a basic freedom, and hardly comparable to having to wear a mask or PPE.
Being vaccinated wouldn't have any impact on case numbers though - just hospitalisations and deathsProbably a combination of them having fully vaccinated 60% of their population (we're in the 40's I think), and the 'Indian variant' having not found its way there in big numbers... yet.
Surely they would? Vaccines reduce transmission.Being vaccinated wouldn't have any impact on case numbers though - just hospitalisations and deaths

Does it? I thought it just massively reduced the likelihood of hospitalisation?Vaccination massively reduces your likelihood of catching covid. If the majority are vaccinated it barely spreads. Theres a small chance of catching covid if you're vaccinated but its low.

Bonus!Indications are it stops you getting it for quite a few people

How did Israel manage to get their numbers to 0 when ours are flying back up again?
We have 76.8% of the adult population with a first vaccine - So are the young people causing the difference in case numbers? They have 62.7% of their population with some form of vaccine. 59% are fully vaccinated, give or take.
They have also had the Indian varient, but maybe a stronger second dose vaccination base.
You're really asking that?NHS staff are forced to wear PPE. What's the difference?

But it's not forcing people to. It's saying that if you want to do a job that places you at a high risk of either catching or transmitting the virus, then you need to have the vaccine. I'm colour blind and you wouldn't want me flying a plane or fixing your plug. The problem is we have this utter madness that the vaccine is harmful to you. It's not, and medical professionals more than anyone should know that.Well surely the point of wearing PPE is to ensure that transmission is significantly reduced (each way)?
I just think there's a big difference between medical professionals having to do something and the general public.
If I was a policeman, I'd expect to be put through my paces physically etc, more than I would if I just worked in an office job. Comes with the territory.
Look, i think everyone should get the vaccine, but i don't think you can force people to, ultimately
