I wrongly assumed that if you are double vaccinated and you go abroad you don't have to get the PCR tests done. I have just found out you still have to pay for various tests which costs £300 per person.

Surely if you are fully vaccinated you shouldn't need PCR tests? Seems a tad overly excessive for me. Can't imagine this process will stop when the next stage of the roadmap happens at the end of June (or July if its pushed back).
Depends where you’re going I guess. I think Greece have said this is ok, if fully vaccinated, no test required.

The PCR rules are a UK government thing rather than the other countries I think?

The rules might change. At the moment you can basically only go abroad if you're rich by using 'work' or a second home as an excuse.

I’ve just seen this, which is news to me.....
The European Union has decided that the UK will not be placed on its ‘white list’ allowing non-essential travel, adding further disappointment for British holidaymakers wishing to travel to European destinations.

I thought Greece, Spain etc had said we could travel there?

And as if there isn’t enough confusion already, the WHO have now allocated Greek letter names to variants? The Greeks should tell them to do one.

Apart from the lack of deaths and hospitalisations which has allowed society to reopen?

I'm talking more the difference of rules for vaccinated vs non vaccinated. Obviously the vaccine saves lives. USA have incentivised getting vaccinated by having vaccinated sections in stadiums, different mask rules for vaccinated etc.

Well the Americans have always loved creating divisions between their people, it's the old 'haves' and 'have nots' argument all over again

We tried to skirt around the edge of the virus (Eat Out To Help Out etc) and got stung. We've decided to take a more cautious approach by waiting for all of the adult population to become vaccinated before we cast off the shackles

I for one am glad about the caution - Shame we didn't apply it when we allowed thousands of Indian flights into the country last month

Ok no green list. Think a few of the Greek islands will make it by 28th June. Rhodes has done 53000 vaccinations (50% of the island give or take) 38000 since 24th May.The majority of those are the 1 jab Johnson and Johnson. Unless there is a new Talacre variant we could be ok.
