They said the exact same thing last year - “ death on the beaches “ BLM marches etc, carefully choreographed photographs, to make it look like people were sitting on top of each other.

Yet nothing happened.

Behaving like a normal human being, in wanting to have a day out with your family, sitting in a pub with your mates, going on holiday, going to the beach etc, are being spun as like some kind of reckless, irresponsible and selfish act.

Is it any wonder people have had enough and stopped listening.

I know I have.

Who cares if the cases go up if the hospitalisations and deaths stay on the floor? In fact, isn’t that actually better as it proves the vaccine works?
Because if case numbers rise to a high level then hospitalizations will follow too. Obviously not to the same extent as they did in previous waves but uncontrolled exponential growth can make things turn unpleasant quite fast.

Vaccines do work extremely well but even with their excellent protection it is still not 100%, especially so for those who are immune compromised, and even a small breakthrough rate (say 2%) can still translate to significant numbers if the number you are multiplying them with is large.

However the bigger concern would probably be less those that are fully vaccinated than those that are unvaccinated or only partially vaxed. Generally these are people who are younger, and therefore less at risk of serious complications, but again if case numbers get high there would still be those who ended up in hospital with it or with long Covid.

As I understand it UK hospitals are currently catching up on a large backlog of non Covid work so there isn‘t a great deal of spare capacity (whole thread is worth a read)

As I say I may just be worrying over a spike due to surge testing that will come down in a few days but I’d feel a lot better if that line wasn’t as steep.

Nobody is listening anymore no one is arsed, just look around us people enjoying life and good on them. We will never go into lockdown again ever, the people will refuse.

This is what matters.

Not this.

I appreciate that it's difficult to adapt, given we've been crazy scared about case numbers for the past year but what matters now is hospitalisations and deaths. Both of which are so low at the moment and that's only likely to get better with each jab.
10% of of those who have been fully vaccinated will become seriously ill with coronavirus, that equates to millions of people swamping and overwhelming the NHS, again. The NHS was in a perilous position to deal with any national emergency pre pandemic it's on it knees now 15 months of pandemic and it's lock downs and huge waiting lists. Alas our health and social care is in a worse position now than ever before.

This is why I think the June date will happen and we won't have too many problems. The last few weeks have been mental. Pubs are rammed, house parties everywhere and the numbers are pretty similar to weeks ago. The Indian variant is a bit of a concern but it seems to peak relatively low in places like Sefton and its already peaking or has peaked in Bolton.

10% of people who aren't vaccinated don't even get seriously ill with covid, how can you say 10% of vaccinated people will get ill? That's clearly not statistically correct.

"The people" lol.

If this comes back again in the same way as the last two waves the Government will have no choice, its either that or watch "the people" die in their thousands again. I am sure Facebook will be outraged though.

I get the point he is trying to make, but he is making it in a mad way.

10% of the people in Bolton ICU with this variant have had both jabs, according to Hancock in a press conference last week.

That's not true.
