I must say having spent 3 days getting hammered back in Liverpool, a massive majority of people we came across were obeying covid rules, wearing masks etc. Some of the places we went in, and there were a couple of dives tbh, were maybe a bit lax with the SD rules, but from what some have been posting in here I was half expecting a maskless society and parties in the streets. I was pleasantly surprised and you can see why Merseyside is lower than 10 in the infection charts. :)

All posted by people who never go into a pub or restaurant and have very obvious political agendas.

I walked past a few pubs last night. Lots of people distanced inside watching the football and lots of people outside in small groups distancing from others.

Personal observation is that bad practice seems to be disproportionately reported on, but generally, lots seem to be recognising the need to keep up SD.

Safely back home in not so sunny Cornwall now.

Had a very nice stay in Portishead mate. The Italian meal was excellent and even gave me a plateful of chopped chillies on the side as I said I liked my pasta hot. I think they were testing me as the chefs clapped me on the way out after I'd eaten them all. lol

Didn't explore as much as we'd have liked but had breakfast at aqua this morning and then went for a quick look at the waterfront before going home. Portishead is definitely now on our list of stopovers next time we have to go to a funeral back in Liverpool, which probably won't be that long away sadly.

But the good news is that you aren't in the missus' bad books. You deffo don't want that.;)

Nice one. Glad you enjoyed it.

Fun fact. The apartments above the Italian restaurant? Eddie Large lived there, and Bottelinos would usually knock his breakfast up for him and Mrs L.

Whats Aqua like? Never been there.

I've been living in the city center for most of the pandemic and though for obvious reasons any bad cases get more press, I genuinely think that 99% of people have been great. The attitude towards each other, supermarket workers and of course NHS staff has been a very positive one with the exception of the odd anti-mask nutcase. People have also embraced the innovation of the service industry in the crisis, and to be honest if it means no more scrums at the bar then I hope it stays (the new ideas around service, not the virus!)

Unfortunately it probably will from all reports.
Heard a few discussions on the radio this morning and I get the feeling the government
are starting to soften people up to get used to the idea of pushing back the June 21st date
by a couple of weeks.
Trailing what's coming next has been a feature of governments methods. The latest is Gove's statement softening us up to continued controls at football stadia and reduced capacity limits - unless, of course, everyone gets vaccinated. How predictable.

How about if you don't like 'scrums' at the bar you just don't visit bars?
