Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

As long as everyone does their part then we'll be right as rain and all restrictions will end on June 21.

Not sure individually managing our borders (airports/ ports and tunnel) is really down to us.

Suppose Voluntary Virus Border Force is what's needed, it's very clear our government will put economic ideologies ahead of everyone's health.

But the problem we face is that, for various reasons, we don't have a stock of the alternative vaccines to give to the under 30s, an neither are we expecting to have significant stocks any time soon. Even the Pfizer supplies are being prioritised for second doses. We only have available stocks of AZ. I have no doubts in my mind that, had we not already come out and announced the AZ ban, we would now be using it to vaccinate the under 30s and surge vaccinate those areas heavily exposed to the new variant. We still may need to, even though the authorities will have to justify going back on their original decision
Anyone who thought AZ was not going to be problematic is just flag waving nationalistic fool. Very obvious by the worries of independent minded countries who echoed concerns. And proof enough we have a big problem with UK media.

I was talking about the people already here, silly.

But tbh, we should force everyone entering the country into a two week quarantine at a quarantine hotel. Until October 28 when I'm due to fly again, at least.

Shut up.

Edit
Sorry, that is taking away you're right to free speech and that is wrong of me.

However you do continue to post absolute utter nonsense in here. Every single thing you post you make is ante UK and it's just totally boring.

We cant live like this and tbh we wont live like this much longer, there will become a point and i think were very close now where people will just say "fuc it" i have bigger issues in my life than the fear of Covid. Right or wrong that's the point where most people are at now mentally, because i know i am.
Exactly this.
I've followed the advice virtually to the letter but enough is enough now.
Normality has to resume. People who have had both vaccinations won't
put up with much more. If the NHS is not overloaded then we just have to learn
to live with it.

One of my colleagues who i worked with for the past 8 years died a couple of weeks ago from Cancer, he was battling it for just over a year. He was 48 married with 3 kids one of them is his little boy who was just 4 years old.

They thing that sticks in my head is for the last year of his life when he knew it was terminal he couldn't go and fulfil his dreams. Maybe visit his favourite place or have one last holiday with his kids or even go to his favourite restaurant. Forget bloody Covid who knows how long any of us have left.

Shut up.

You think the government have done well learning their lessons on border control and acting decisively then?

Not really no.

Have you followed the exchange of posts in this conversation.? My initial post was actually criticising the government on an aspect of their handing of the vaccine rollout.

Don’t let it get to you. The numbers are incredibly small, I think we will still be on course for 21st June.....
I'm not even that arsed about the June one - I'm more worried about this next stage of easing getting postponed

At this point I'd just take a half-life - we're never ever going to be back to fully normal and I've made my peace with that

To touch on the fallacy that we could have just "closed the borders" with India to stop the variant - sadly it's nonsense. It's prevalent everywhere. If it wasn't for the fact that the UK is a world-leader in sequencing, we probably wouldn't even be worrying about it.

Any new variant that is more transmissible is a cause for concern, but unless there's evidence that vaccinated people are susceptible to this new variant, there's no reason for us all to lose our heads about it.

At some point it would be nice if there was a discussion around a variant which doesn't involve it being ultra transmissive and 1000s of deaths a day on its way. Every single time a variant appears the same points are made.

Variants are always going to happen. We cannot continue to have this situation every few weeks.
Let's get you on the board to sort out then so the facts stop boring people
