Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Having sat outside of our pub this evening in the freezing cold, I can agree that certain pubs can cope and adapt. However, we have loads of space, most city pubs don’t and they cannot ‘evolve and adapt’ because they physically cannot do so. The data says that being inside of pubs didn’t raise issues, now most people are inoculated it definitely shouldn’t. We look forward to welcoming our now inoculated customers back to the pub on the 17th, where some will be indoors following Covid guidelines, and others will be outside enjoying the no doubt improving weather. Schools are full, people are back at work, shops are open and still the numbers fall as inoculations rise. We’ve beaten this virus, it’s cost many lives, but it is nearly over. It’s time for people to get their lives back......
But this is an industry being reduced in size every year, even prior to the pandemic.

It's not wanted. Not in the form it's traditionally been offered people.

A pandemic has just accelerated that trend.

That could be down to Americans taking more seriously public health advice in the Biden era as much as any vaccine effect.

IMO we can only stress test these vaccines and understand if they are the difference when we go into a season when respiratory illness is rampant. If we see marked reduction of Covid19 death rates in the autumn and winter compared with last autumn / winter then we can claim the vaccines are the difference.
In Texas and Florida??!! I like your optimism mate lol

Almost 50 million people vaccined, either by first or by having both vaccines. All 3 rolling death averages have fallen significantly. We are on the fast track to finally seeing light at the end of a very dark tunnel, albeit a good 6-8 months later than hoped
I repeat: I hope you're right. But it's optimal atm for a reduction in cases and fatalities. The end of a lockdown lasting 4/5 months and good weather plus the vaccines.

This is a hiatus in the grip the vorus has. Enjoy it, but dont be fooled it's the end.

Come the late autumn/early winter they may have a rise but there will also be booster shots for those that are fully vaccined now, it won't be as catastrophic as this past winter and there certainly won't be a need for a full on lockdown

Get on the BBC report of that warehouse gig lad - you'll know why when you see the picture ♡

Hahaha seen it.

Also seen the vid of that lad behind the reporter completely off his head, and styles it out into a dance.

Go on son.

Albeit, he'll probably be in a very bad place right now considering that was at 7pm like.

As much as I don't like it, I imagine there'll be a ban on large indoor events in the winter, and a cap of 10/20% on things like matches etc. I think that's a real possibility.

But other than that, there shouldn't be a need for any stricter limits.

Incredible, the US stocked loads of vaccines indeed, good for Americans

To say "its not wanted" is bollocks. I mean i don't have any data to back this up but by just using my eyes (pre Covid) I've never seen so many bars restaurants opening all over the place.
I would say the only part of the industry that is getting reduced is your old fashioned traditional pubs.

....I suppose supply & demand will take the industry to whatever level is needed.

Pubs are a community centre for many people, particularly in the traditional sense. It’s what many do for company, it’s what many do for routine, it’s what many do to have something to look forward to. Not sure if things will return to where they were but let’s hope there’s still a service for those who want and need it.

The pub industry grew in 2019.
