Yes, as said, the vaccines will help. But we know from experience that this virus comes right down with lockdowns and seasonal changes (which allow a life outdoors to be the norm for most).

People are still dying of the virus in this country and elsewhere even amongst groups with the vaccine. And we'll really only tell how much they'll help in the winter and after the full effect of society opening up for months. The medical community aren't willing to declare the vaccines to have protected everyone who got them.
Mate you need to give it a rest you, day in day out spouting the same negative garbage on here.

From BBC Online, this very much tallies up with the Worldometer current cases figures I update every day.

Estimates from the ONS survey suggest that about 66,000 people in the UK would test positive for coronavirus in the week to 24 April - down from 105,000 people the previous week.

This is 0.1% of the population – or one in 975 people.

The ONS also says that infections “decreased” in every nation of the UK.

Here's the breakdown across the UK:

England: 1-in-1010 are estimated to be testing positive for coronavirus Vs 1-in-610 last week.

Wales: 1-in-1,570 vs 1-in-840

Northern Ireland: 1-in-940 vs 1-in-660

Scotland: 1-in-640 vs 1-in-560

Actually curious what other choice we have?

I mean you say vaccines are idiocy, which is quite an idiotic thing to say, IMO.

Well that isn’t what I said, though.

My point was (once again) about getting proper surveillance (test, trace, contain) systems set up which could quickly detect anything threatening (vaccine resistant, a different disease) before we get in the same horrific situation that we are in. If we get that, we are going to be far better protected when this happens again.

Vaccination campaigns are a vital part of fixing this, but they aren’t the only part. It’s treating them as the only route that’s the idiocy.

But we arent only doing vaccines mate.

Round here they currently have a mobile testing unit that's going round the whole area and offering people tests.

There are numerous static testing places and if you want a test you can get 1 online within 24 hours if needed.

There are tests available, whether people are using them is another matter, but testing is quite widespread.

That’s just testing though, and the responsibility is placed on the individual to do it.

To be effective the system has to be able to quickly identify the people at risk, test them, trace any contacts they’ve had, test them and then support them whilst they isolate.

We’re still in a position of not having that, and still having the “we’re going to have to learn to live with this” shouts.
