The lockdowns are responsible alone for the reduction of infections. We know that because the same sharp reduction happened last year after a shorter lockdown and when we were (as now) going into the better weather with more people circulating outdoor.Obviously the lockdown and vaccines are playing a major part in the low numbers in the UK but I wonder also if those huge numbers infected we saw in Nov-January playing its part in terms of natural immunity.
I knew of at least 8 people from different households who tested positive following the festive period and im a billy no mates lol

The vaccines will help, but they haven't been tested yet. That will come in the autumn and winter. The lockdown has done the heavy lifting here. Anyone thinking there's a vaccine effect responsible for this slump in fatality rate isn't paying attention and / or have been (willingly?) duped.
You had your explanation. Or maybe you think last spring's reduction to almost no infection and deaths was due to a vaccine that hadn't been invented then?Source please?
Indeed, the vaccine has played a huge part. Just look at Israel for example and this country with the opening U.K. of outdoor hospitality. The figures haven’t even gone up since, not even by a short uptick.Source please?
*punches the air*It seems to be the AZ jab is the worse for side effects after the first jab. My friend who works in the same building as me, but on a totally different team and floor, had her’s a month after myself and was absolutely knocked for six with the side effects. She had shivers and had to go to bed early to keep warm and sleep it off. She described it as “feeling like sh*t” on her Instagram feed when she went for her second and posted a selfie of herself with the vaccination card.
The thing is, everyone I know despite knowing the side effects of AS all went for the jab and didn’t care one jot when they were told the moment they got there it was going to be AZ. It’s horrible from what I’ve been told (I had Pfizer which only gave me an aching arm), but it’s worth going through it to protect yourself and others around you. You also only have the experience once and never again, not even for the second jab.
Was quite an emotional moment getting that second jab. Especially when I had to wait 20 minutes on my own in a room before I could leave.
Not long until all this is over for us as a nation, let’s just hold it out there until June 21 then exercise caution from there. Don’t listen to any of those scaremongering stories saying June 21 won’t be the same again just because Wimbledon will be 25 percent to capacity and “Covid Wardens will treat us like Hitlers”, they just want clicks like the MSM scum they are. Don’t bother watching that iPlayer documentary called “Pandemic”, that’s more propaganda especially with its “7.8 of us have a common enemy” tagline.
I miss my friends loads, especially the one I mentioned earlier. She always had time for me whenever we bumped into each other in town, in the office building or even on the train to Cardiff to work, then Covid killed the fun just like for everyone else.
Let’s keep this up, get the jabs when needed and if you’re over 40, you can book online, even if you haven’t been invited yet.
EDIT: I’m putting Dave on ignore, his enjoyment of this pandemic is really doing my nut in. He’s worse than David Ike and all the conspiracy theorists before and after him.
Ultimately though Pete, he's the PM of the country (and a country which even by last October had been one of the worst hit by the pandemic). So he probably shouldn't be saying it.
This place is turning into a Tory scab city by the day. No doubt Tory-lite Rotheram, the co-architect of the city's winter catastrophe, was the governement's go to guy for putting these on. Live outdoor and indoor events with thousands in attendance and without masks or social distancing. "A spokesman for Liverpool City Council said the choice of the city was down to its "can-do attitude and real sense of community spirit". What an utter spanner. A scab of the worst order - willing to push the boundaries of the city's capacity to withstand a Covid19 surge just to facilitate the spiv economy they helped put in place. Bending over backwards for the Tory Overlords sent in to run the city.

Covid: Why is Liverpool being used as a test site?
Liverpool hosted the first mass testing and is at the forefront of the pilot to test crowd safety.www.bbc.co.uk
The same tools in the city council and Liverpool City Region who kicked off about the Scabs v Atletico game go ahead are willing to make the city a testing laboratory for Covid19 containment. And that Medical Officer, Ashton - another Kopite scab - is a disgrace for backing it.
So if infections rise after all these events will they put their stupid 'kin hands up to that? I somehow doubt it.
You're just lucky that DaveK has used up all the lampposts on other offenders.Of course not, but it’s not a hanging offence.....
Good call, I very much doubt he believes the diarrhea that dribbles from his mouth constantly. He is the definition of a troll looking for reactions. Good luck with that lolSource please?

Agree the lockdowns have been very important in reducing cases however there is also a pretty clear vaccine effect in the data. I don’t think it has to be an either/or situation, they can work in partnership. The lockdowns are responsible alone for the reduction of infections.
