Yeh people are, understandably, just too used to having too much.

Friends ask me how I'm able to go away travelling so often. The answer is by cutting down on your costs. For example, a night out on the town costs at least £50. I used to go out every week but instead go out maybe once a month. That's at least £150 saved a month, which is the flights and accommodation.

I don't live a frugal lifestyle by any means but it is more considered and I feel better mentally for doing so. It's especially rewarding when you see your savings go up.

I'm extremely lucky that I don't have kids to pay for, however, even if I did I'm sure I'd adapt.

I pay for a car, my rent a phone and netflix.

I'm 25. It's 2020.

I'm selling some clothes and stuff that I don't need - but was doing that anyway.

I don't get this thing about not rewarding yourself with things you like.

You're coming across more 15 than 25 lately.

Cancel Netflix if you can't afford it as an obvious example of living within your means.

Humans can't adapt as we're finding out during this pandemic.

If people earn their money then they have every right to spend it how they wish.

I've prioritised doing what I wanted to do as a career in the last year over money. My wage dropped nearly 10k but I knew I needed to do it for my career.

I live within my means but given the nature of freelancing it differs month-to-month.

If I want to treat myself I do, if it's to a new coat or pair of trainers or going to a gig or whatever. I don't spend a lot on booze and I don't smoke or anything.

Obviously I will rein that in now this has happened. That's common sense.

I'm still worried. Worried about whenever this all is over.

I don't want to be 25 and earning less than 12k a year.

Gutted about the gym like. My hamstring's gonna be in bits.

(This is a joke - well, not the hamstring bit).

The measures for freelancers and the self employed were a bit crap by the way. Way worse than for employees. Basically, whilst the measures for employees bankroll their employment, the measures for the self-employed tell them to go on benefits. Very poor.

I've just this second learned my long running application to a major employer has been rejected. Don't know if it was at all affected by the pandemic, but looks like I'm going to be frugal for a looong time.
Can't imagine much recruitment happening for a while when businesses don't know if they can even keep the staff they have. If this really does last 18 months...

I can afford it atm. Further down the line - depending how long this goes on for - I will cancel it if I need to.

I live by if you want something in life then get it if you can pay for it and justify it. If I can't, I won't. But given you're wanting everyone to be inside for the next few weeks, I think keeping Netflix is fair enough. It's a small little thing which brings some entertainment for £2.50 a week.

Honest question here, Nymz. What do you actually do? Not for work or anything. But while you can say I've come across as a teenager, all I get from you is that you stay inside all day, don't do much other than think about how ace it is living off pittance?

I'm sure that's not the case but that's how it comes across?

Edit: I know you know a lot about footy, too.
